Just two weeks after announcing the exit of its SVP retail operations, Kroger announced a replacement on Friday.

CINCINNATI — Just two weeks after announcing the exit of its SVP retail operations, Kroger announced a replacement on Friday.

Geoffrey Covert, a seasoned Kroger executive, will become SVP retail operations, effective Jan. 1. He will be responsible for leading the company's programs and processes focused on operating efficiency, store productivity and associate and customer safety, Kroger said. Prior to this position, Covert served as president of the company's Cincinnati/Dayton division for the past six years.

SALT LAKE CITY — Kerr Drug has begun offering a new emergency response and health service system to seniors via a one-touch cell phone link.

The product, from ActiveCare, now is available in most or all of the Raleigh, N.C.-based drug chain’s stores, according to both companies. Kerr VP marketing Diane Eliezer said the chain maintains roughly 90 stores and retail health centers, all in North Carolina.

The transfer-resistant concealer is available in several shades, including Kalahari Sand, Heavenly Honey, Truly Tropez and nutmeg. The suggested retail price is $8.95 each.

Cardinal Health on Tuesday announced the extension of its distribution agreement to supply pharmaceuticals to Walgreens' national network of retail pharmacies.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Cardinal Health on Tuesday announced the extension of its distribution agreement to supply pharmaceuticals to Walgreens' national network of retail pharmacies.

The agreement will prolong into 2013. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CVS Caremark announced on Friday that former Walmart North executive Hank Mullany will succeed Larry Merlo as president of CVS/pharmacy. The move is part of the corporate succession plan announced last May in which Tom Ryan will retire as CEO prior to the next annual meeting and Merlo will step up as CEO.

More than 100 leading industry players gathered for the event, which also included the 12th Annual Industry Issues Summit in the afternoon.
