Owning “well” — or, put another way, becoming the nation’s top retail resource for pharmacy and health-and-wellness services and products — is the kind of declaration few retail pharmacy executives would dare utter. But Wasson isn’t running just any drug store chain.

Quest Products on Friday announced the addition of a gel formulated for emergency burn relief, Alocane Emergency Burn Gel, to its current line of products.

Previously a top-selling product on retail shelves in the 80's and 90's, it was taken off the market due to financial difficulties facing the parent company, First Pharmaceutical.

TheraPearl, a creator of therapy products, announced that its line of hot and cold pearl-filled packs will be soon be available in Target stores across the country.

COLUMBIA, Md. — TheraPearl, a creator of therapy products, announced that its line of hot and cold pearl-filled packs will soon be available in Target stores across the country.

The company's Back Wrap and Sports Pack are already available at Target.com and will make their brick-and-mortar debut in the First Aid section on April 19. While TheraPearl's products have been available in Target Canada since last year, this announcement marks the first appearance of its products in Target's U.S. stores.

In this role, Hahn will lead and drive critical initiatives of strategic marketing, market insights and analytics, advertising, promotion, brand development, corporate communications, innovation, digital strategy and execution. 

She will also be responsible for developing digital retailing and loyalty plans.

Warmer spring weather spurred continued consumer spending and activity this March. According to the National Retail Federation, March retail sales — which exclude automobiles, gas stations and restaurants — increased 0.8% adjusted month-to-month and 1.6% unadjusted year-over-year.

Total U.S. retail sales during 2013 reportedly reached $4.5 trillion, a 4.2% increase from $4.4 billion in 2012. According to new data from EMarketer, e-commerce sales of $263.3 billion, up 16.9% from $225.3 billion the prior year, helped drive overall retail sales growth.

NEW YORK — Total U.S. retail sales during 2013 reportedly reached $4.5 trillion, a 4.2% increase from $4.4 billion in 2012. According to new data from EMarketer, e-commerce sales of $263.3 billion, up 16.9% from $225.3 billion the prior year, helped drive overall retail sales growth.

Non-e-commerce sales totaled about $4.3 billion, a 3.5% increase from $4.12 billion in 2012. In 2014, EMarketer predicts that e-commerce sales in rhe U.S. will grow 15.5% to total $304.1 billion, or 6.4% of total retail sales of $4.73 billion.

Rite Aid on Thursday announced it has acquired Houston-based RediClinic, one of the nation’s leading operators of retail clinics.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid on Thursday announced it has acquired Houston-based RediClinic, one of the nation’s leading operators of retail clinics. RediClinic currently operates 30 clinics in the greater Houston, Austin and San Antonio areas. Through the acquisition, RediClinic will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Rite Aid. 

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

In the wake of acquiring Houston-based RediClinic, Rite Aid on Thursday reported revenues of $6.6 billion for the fourth quarter ended March 1, resulting from a 2.2% lift primarily attributed to an increase in pharmacy same-store sales.

For the full year, Rite Aid reported $25.5 billion in revenues, up 0.5%.

Not Your Mother’s hair care brand expanded its U.S. retail distribution with more than 10,000 stores and almost doubled its SKU count in first quarter 2014, and now the manufacturer is broadening its international reach by launching in Walmart Mexico.

TAMPA, Fla. — Not Your Mother’s hair care brand expanded its U.S. retail distribution with more than 10,000 stores and almost doubled its SKU count in first quarter 2014, and now the manufacturer is broadening its international reach by launching in Walmart Mexico.

The brand is already distributed in Australia, South Korea, Brazil and Chile.

U.S. Vision, a separately owned and operated company based in Glendora, N.J., is currently a tenant in 50 Meijer stores in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio, and has plans to open 19 more vision centers in Meijer stores this year. All of its vision centers will be renamed “Meijer Optical” by the end of the month.
