She will be responsible for managing communications outreach and information activities related to FMI’s strategic goals, including government relations, food safety, conferences and events, and industry relations.

Findings from the past year show that vitamin sales have been stronger than most other health and beauty categories. The recent emphasis placed by vitamin and nutritional supplement manufacturers on new multivitamin brands has delivered positive results.

SymphonyIRI Group reported that, in the 24 weeks ended May 15, multivitamins outperformed the total vitamin category.

Retailers and small- to mid-sized brand marketers shouldn’t be quick to dismiss social media as an effective avenue to communicate with consumers versus traditional media outreach like TV and radio. That was a key takeaway of a recent survey conducted on behalf of marketing/public relations firm Robin Leedy & Associates.

KISCO, N.Y. — Retailers and small- to mid-sized brand marketers shouldn’t be quick to dismiss social media as an effective avenue to communicate with consumers versus traditional media outreach like TV and radio. That was a key takeaway of a recent survey conducted on behalf of marketing/public relations firm Robin Leedy & Associates.


In fact, the research suggested that the balance of power already may be tipping in favor of social marketing, particularly in certain categories and definitely among certain consumers.

Procter & Gamble has announced a new advertising campaign for its Pantene hair care brand, featuring actresses Eva Mendes and Naomi Watts.

CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble has announced a new advertising campaign for its Pantene hair care brand, featuring actresses Eva Mendes and Naomi Watts.

Beginning in July, both women will appear in all elements of the brand's marketing campaign, including TV and print advertising, in-store displays, iMedia and public relations campaigns.

Mendes will support the Breakage to Strength collection, while Watts will support the Flat to Volume collection.

To that end, its most recent radio and television campaign positioned the pharmacies against the large national chains. The customer-
service-focused campaign established the Sav-Mor pharmacist as “your personal pharmacist” along with the idea that “nobody cares more for the customer than the owner.”

CHICAGO — It seems that MillerCoors' Miller High Life brand is taking the high road when it comes to pricey endorsement and sponsorship deals.

The brand said that it is positioning itself as the "official beer of you," its drinker. The program will be supported with print, TV, radio and online advertising, as well as point-of-sale and public relations efforts, the company said.

Voraciously defend. Push for government oversight (not more regulation, but better enforcement of existing regulations). Self-regulate. Publicize. Those are four initiatives tackled by the Council for Responsible Nutrition in the past year, in what could be described as a banner year for news in the dietary supplement arena. Long-awaited good manufacturing practices finally were passed, a law requiring serious adverse event reporting associated with dietary supplements was enacted in December and CRN began two key initiatives — the self-policing effort of dietary supplement advertising and a public relations campaign to fortify the reputation of supplements among consumers.
