HOUSTON — Beginning April 13, Kroger customers in the Greater Houston area will be able to save up to $1 per gallon at 68 Kroger Fuel Centers through the grocer's new fuel accumulation program.

Kroger's latest gas savings initiative will allow shoppers to redeem up to 1,000 fuel points, which are earned through everyday grocery, prescription and gift card purchases using the Kroger Plus card, during a single fill-up.

PRINCETON, N.J. — Danish drug maker Novo Nordisk has received the Corporate Leadership Award from the National Hemophilia Foundation in response to its research and development efforts for the disease, the company said Friday.

Novo Nordisk president Jurek Gruhn accepted the award at the NHF’s Inaugural Spring Soiree Benefit in New York Thursday. Novo Nordisk makes NovoSeven RT (coagulation factor VIIa [recombinant], room temperature stable), used to treat hemophilia A and B.

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen on Monday promoted David Neu, 53, to president of AmerisourceBergen Drug, the company's largest operating unit, effective immediately. Neu, a 29-year veteran of the company, most recently was SVP operations.

The role of president of AmerisourceBergen Drug previously was held by Steven Collis, currently EVP and COO. Collis recently was named to succeed David Yost as CEO upon Yost's retirement on July 1. In his new role, Neu will continue to report to Steven Collis.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The U.S. subsidiary of India-based generic drug maker Hetero Drugs has appointed Konstantin Ostaficiuk as its president, Camber said.

Ostaficiuk, who often goes by the nickname of Kon, succeeds Briggs Arrington, who has gone on to work for Hetero’s senior management team to find new opportunities for the company’s U.S. manufacturing operations. Ostaficiuk has worked in the generic drug industry for 25 years, having joined Camber in 2009 as VP sales and marketing.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens in March expanded Joseph Magnacca’s role. As president of daily living products and solutions, Magnacca — the former Shoppers Drug Mart vet who as chief merchant of Duane Reade proved instrumental in the reinvention of the New York drug store chain — will oversee Walgreens’ marketing and merchandising operations, led by chief marketing officer Kim Feil and chief merchandising officer Bryan Pugh, but will report directly to president and CEO Greg Wasson.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Walmart Foundation has donated $5 million to the Meals On Wheels Association of America to help fight senior hunger in communities across the nation.

Through the grant, MOWAA will boost the efforts of senior nutrition programs, organizations that provide critical services to more than 6 million seniors in the United States currently facing the threat of hunger.

WILTON, Conn. — Beiersdorf, whose brands include Nivea, Eucerin and Aquaphor, has announced that Robert Taylor-Hughes, president of Beiersdorf North America, is leaving the company.

In the interim, Bill Graham, currently VP sales of Beiersdorf North America, will assume the role of acting general manager in addition to his current responsibilities. The company stated that a successor will be announced at a later date.
