CINCINNATI — Kroger has announced the promotion of Joe Fey as president of the Quality Food Centers division.

Fey, 57, has been VP merchandising for the company's Michigan division. He succeeds Donna Giordano, who was recently promoted to president of the Ralphs division in California.

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. — Alacer last week launched Emergen-C Kidz, a new vitamin drink mix specially formulated for children. A portion of the proceeds from the new SKU will be donated to Vitamin Angels, the company added.

SARASOTA, Fla. — It is with great sadness that Drug Store News reports the unexpected passing of ECRM CEO and founder Charlie Bowlus, who has died from complications following emergency surgery three weeks ago.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens has announced that it is now offering immunizations daily at all of its more than 7,700 stores nationwide, including all Duane Reade pharmacies in New York and more than 350 Take Care Clinics.

Flu shots are available daily with no appointment necessary during all pharmacy and clinic hours. New this season, patients who desire a flu shot appointment at any Walgreens may schedule one online at Walgreens.com.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Delhaize America announced that it is expanding its Food Lion distribution center in Dunn, N.C.

The company said the distribution center, which opened in 1987 and services 264 Food Lion stores in the area, will increase storage space by 54,000 sq. ft. to accomodate more than 4,000 refrigerated and frozen foods.

Giordano, 57, has been president of the company's Quality Food Centers division, based in Seattle, since 2002. She succeeds Mike Donnelly, who was recently promoted to SVP merchandising for Kroger.

The changes include several executive moves, including the appointment of Dave Lewis, president of the Americas, as president of personal care, consisting of skin, deodorants, oral and hair.


MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu's group VP independent sales, marketing and merchandising is stepping into a new role at the company.

Leon Bergmann will become president of the retailer's independent business organization, Supervalu announced Thursday. Bergmann is replacing Mark Anderson, who is retiring this summer.
