BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — Ulta Beauty announced on Thursday that Chuck Rubin will step down as president, CEO and director, effective Feb. 21, to become CEO at Michaels Stores, a specialty retailer of arts and crafts.

The board of directors has appointed Dennis K. Eck, current non-executive chairman of the board of directors, as interim CEO. Rubin has agreed to assist the company during the transition period.

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu on Monday named Sam Duncan president and CEO. In this role he succeeds Wayne Sales, who has served as the company’s president and CEO since July 2012. The succession was first reported last month, when Supervalu announced its agreement with AB Acquisition to sell five of its retail banners as well as enter into an agreement with Symphony Investors to conduct a tender offer for up to 30% of Supervalu's outstanding common stock.

NEW YORK — The head of a regional supermarket chain based in the Pacific Northwest is stepping down, according to published reports.

The Bellingham, Wash., Herald reported that Haggen president and CEO Clarence Gabriel would step down and be replaced by three other members of its management team. The company did not elaborate on why Gabriel was resigning, according to the newspaper.

Prime said president and CEO Eric Elliott would deliver the keynote speech, titled "Specialty Pharmacy Benefit - The Employer's Perspective" at the first annual Therigy Specialty Pharmacy Leadership Congress in Orlando, Fla.

BRUSSELS — Delhaize's U.S. division has a new leader.

The supermarket conglomerate announced that Roland Smith will serve as Delhaize America's president and CEO, as well as EVP of the Delhaize Group, effective Oct. 15. Smith is replacing Ronald Hodge, who will be retiring from his post this year. Hodge will serve in an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition.

TORONTO — Shoppers Drug Mart has named Domenic Pilla as its president and CEO, the company said.

Pilla, most recently president of McKesson Canada, will take the new position at the 1,190-store Canadian chain starting Nov. 1. Pilla has worked in retailing and health care for nearly 30 years, including experience in retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical distribution and sales management, specialty health networks, chronic disease management and adherence and health information technology.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg's president, CEO and company director David Mackay announced that he will retire from his post, effective Jan. 1.

The announcement is part of Kellogg's succession plan, which named current COO and board member John Bryant — who joined Kellogg in 1998 — as the company's new president and CEO. Mackay will work closely with Bryant to ensure a smooth transition through March 31, 2011, the company said.
