Supervalu on Thursday announced that two of its directors, Mark Neporent and Lenard Tessler, have stepped down from the board of directors effective immediately.

Neporent and Tessler were both appointed to the board in 2013 as designees of Symphony Investors, a Cerberus Capital Management L.P.-led investor consortium, under the terms of the Tender Offer Agreement entered into with Symphony Investors and Cerberus in connection with Supervalu's sale of five banners to an affiliate of Symphony Investors.

Mininberg, who currently serves as CEO and president of Helen of Troy’s Healthcare/Home Environment segment (Kaz and PUR), will succeed Gerald Rubin, who is stepping down as CEO and president and resigning from the board, effective immediately, to serve as CEO of River Oaks Properties Ltd., an El Paso commercial real estate firms.

Sears Holdings has elected law firm executive Cesar Alvarez to its board of directors, the company, which owns the Sears and Kmart chains, announced.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings has elected law firm executive Cesar Alvarez to its board of directors, the company, which owns the Sears and Kmart chains, announced.

Alvarez is co-chairman of the international law firm Greenburg Traurig, which he joined in 1973. Before his appointment as chairman, he served as executive chairman for more than three years and as its CEO for 13 years, starting in 1997.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has elected the president and CEO of Catholic Health Initiatives to its board of directors, the retail pharmacy chain said Tuesday.

Rite Aid announced the appointment of Kevin Lofton, who has worked with the Englewood, Colo.-based operator of hospitals and long-term care centers since 1998 and was appointed as its president and CEO in 2003.

DUBLIN — Actavis has appointed the board of directors for the division it recently created as part of its acquisition of Ireland-based Warner Chilcott, the drug maker said.

Actavis, which announced the $8.5 billion purchase of Warner Chilcott, cleared the final regulatory hurdle to the acquisition Monday when the Irish High Court approved it. As part of the acquisition, it is changing Warner Chilcott's name to Actavis plc.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association announced Wednesday the appointment of Sears Holdings Corp. president for Sears and Kmart, EVP and chief merchandising officer Ron Boire. Other executives include CEOs of The Home Depot, 7-Eleven, Petco Animal Supplies and J.C. Penney Co.

AMSTERDAM — Rene Dahan will step down as Royal Ahold's board chairman in October, the Dutch supermarket operator said Wednesday.

Netherlands-based Ahold — which operates the Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover and Giant-Carlisle chains and the Peapod online grocery service in the United States through its Ahold USA subsidiary — said that Dahan would step down after serving on the company's board since 2004. The company plans to propose at its shareholder meeting the appointment of Jan Hommen as Dahan's successor.
