The new association couldn't have come at a better time as healthcare providers look forward to the kind of outcomes-based medicine practice that will be driven by the Jan. 1, 2014 implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Because in an effort to achieve those better outcomes at the patient level, practitioners will need more health information at the point of care.

ShopRite is planning to open a pharmacy inside the Doylestown Hospital on June 1, marking its first location inside a medical facility.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — ShopRite is planning to open a pharmacy inside the Doylestown Hospital on June 1, marking its first location inside a medical facility.

“We are looking forward to working with the hospital to make access to medications and medical supplies convenient for all patients,” said Joe Cowhey, president of the Cowhey Family Supermarket, a family business that owns and operates the ShopRite of Warminster.

Mylan on Friday confirmed that a federal district court has granted its request to enforce a settlement agreement between Endo Pharmaceuticals and Mylan settling patent litigation in connection with Mylan's filing of an abbreviated new drug application with the Food and Drug Administration for frovatriptan succinate tablets, 2.5 mg.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan on Friday confirmed that a federal district court has granted its request to enforce a settlement agreement between Endo Pharmaceuticals and Mylan settling patent litigation in connection with Mylan's filing of an abbreviated new drug application with the Food and Drug Administration for frovatriptan succinate tablets, 2.5 mg. This product is the generic version of Frova, which is used to treat acute migraine headaches in adults.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer on Monday announced that it has selected U.S. Vision as its exclusive vision center in its stores moving forward in an effort to enhance its retail healthcare services across the Midwest.

U.S. Vision, a separately owned and operated company based in Glendora, N.J., is currently a tenant in 50 Meijer stores in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio, and has plans to open 19 more vision centers in Meijer stores this year. All of its vision centers will be renamed “Meijer Optical” by the end of the month.

A recent audience-research study conducted by Nielsen found that among Cardinal Health's digital advertising network for retail pharmacies, called Pharmacy Health Network, half of viewers surveyed (49%) indicated that they felt encouraged to discuss a product or brand they had seen on Pharmacy Health Network with their pharmacist, and 48% indicated that after seeing ads on Pharmacy Health Network, they felt motivated to discuss those products or brands with their physicians.
