Beech-Nut's new line of products feature Winnie the Pooh characters, including the namesake bear and his pals Piglet and Tigger.

CHICAGO — Healthy eating behavior varies by generation, according to new research by NPD.

The "Healthy Eating Strategies by Generation" report found that younger generations — i.e., adults ages 21 to 54 years — have the least-healthy diets. But while older generations have better diets than their younger counterparts, it seems that 4-out-of-5 adults still need to improve the quality of their diet.

Supervalu on Wednesday announced that it has entered into a stock purchase agreement for the sale of Total Logistic Control to Ryder Integrated Logistics.

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu on Wednesday announced that it has entered into a stock purchase agreement for the sale of Total Logistic Control — a wholly owned subsidiary that provides logistics and supply chain management solutions to manage distribution, warehousing and transportation operations for food, beverage and consumer packaged goods companies — to Ryder Integrated Logistics.

Subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the sale is expected to close Dec. 31.

MIAMI — The American College of Neuropsychopharmacology on Wednesday presented a new analysis of the effects of omega-3 essential fatty acids as potential treatment options for depression.

Two critical omega-3 essential fatty acids available from certain food or nutritional supplements but not manufactured by the body — eicosapentenoic acid and docosahexaenoic — play a role in optimal brain functioning and have antidepressant benefits that have not been fully recognized, the professional society stated during its annual meeting in Miami.

PepsiCo announced that Jamie Caulfield would succeed Lynn Tyson as the company's SVP investor relations. EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Regional supermarket chain Fresh & Easy has kicked off its in-store food drive for the holiday season.

The food drive, which will benefit food banks in the California, Nevada and Arizona markets, asked customers to donate canned and boxed goods at any store location through Christmas Eve. Between donations from customers and Fresh & Easy stores, more than $1 million in food will be given to local food banks and charities to help fight hunger this holiday season, the retailer said.
