Obviously these performance gaps are not part of the plan. Companies that work together to create very concise business plans, supported by a constant rhythm of team meetings, are more apt to stay on course and execute their plans with precision.

Seems obvious, so why do most initiatives breakdown?

Sears Holdings announced the appointment of Mets VP player development and amateur scouting Paul DePodesta. His election to the board brings the total number of board members to eight.

SEATTLE — A former executive of Car Toys has been appointed CFO of Bartell Drugs, the Seattle-based retail pharmacy chain said.

Rob Jensen has been appointed CFO of Bartell, where he will provide financial analysis and support for the 58-store chain, including supervisory oversight of accounting and finance, information technology, loss prevention and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act operations.

CINCINNATI — Long-time Fred Meyer executive Lynn Gust was named president of the 133-store Kroger division.

Gust, 59, joined Koriger in 1970 as a parcel clerk and most recently served as the company’s SVP of operations. Gust was appointed to that position in 2011 and prior to that he served as EVP of corporate merchandising and advertising. During his career Gust also served as VP of the Fred Meyer food group and SVP of store operations.

JERUSALEM — Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has made some new executive appointments, the drug maker said Tuesday.

Teva promoted Allan Oberman, currently SVP North America generic pharmaceuticals, to president and CEO of Teva Americas Generics. In the new role, Oberman will report directly to Teva president and CEO Jeremy Levin and have continued responsibility for generics in the North American market and overall management of the company's Latin American businesses.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug for treating blood pressure and chest pain.

FDA approves cardiovascular drug

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug for treating blood pressure and chest pain. Actavis announced the approval of diltiazem hydrochloride extended-release capsules.
The drug is a generic version of Valeant’s Tiazac. The branded drug and its generic equivalents had sales of about $76.3 million in 2011, according to IMS Health.
