PURCHASE, N.Y. — Amp Energy, an energy drink from PepsiCo, announced a partnership with racing star Dale Earnhardt Jr. to produce a new sour grape flavor. The beverage, called Dale Jr. Sour, will be available for a limited time at select 7-Eleven stores across the country starting April 2.

CHICAGO — Rexam, a global beverage can maker, announced that its recovery drink, Formula O2, has hit the market. The beverage, available in Orange Mango and Grapefruit Ginger flavors, is infused with 10 times more oxygen than tap water, 2.5 times more electrolytes than sports drinks and also includes 140 mg of natural caffeine.

Formula O2 was founded by three friends who grew tired of energy and sports drinks that claimed to help people, but were actually filled with unsavory ingredients.

CHICAGO — According to new research from Mintel, nearly 6-in-10 Americans who are current energy drink or shot users say they worry about the safety of these beverages. 

Despite fears over safety, the energy drink, shot and mix category has beat back detractors to show consistent annual growth from 2008 to 2013 sales. The market reported a 17% increase in 2012 and is projected to repeat that growth rate in 2013.

MEAD, Wash. — Movit Energy Gummies recently launched its signature product targeting active sports enthusiasts with an energy product in gummy format. 

Movit comes in a snack-size packet typically containing 11 gummies, which altogether contain 60 calories, in one of two flavors — citrus or berry. The proprietary formula includes such ingredients as Brazilian guarana, co-enzyme Q10, D-ribose, vitamin C, taurine, protein and a full complement of B vitamins.

The energy formula meets high school and NCAA guidelines, the company stated.
