The two speakers will keynote the first and last sessions, respectively, at the Council for Responsible Nutrition’s one-day scientific symposium, held Oct. 3 in Laguna Beach, Calif.

NEW YORK — Beginning this month, South Carolina is allowing retail-based health clinics to enroll as providers in Medicaid, a move that will enable Medicaid patients to use clinics for wellness visits, preventive services and to treat acute ailments, according to a local news report.

According to The Post and Courier, South Carolina Medicaid director Tony Keck said the move is designed to expand access to care and keep those patients with basic health issues from using high-cost emergency departments.

Heiser comes to McKesson from Giant Eagle, where he was VP pharmacy and oversaw the day-to-day operation of more than 209 locations. Heiser started his retail pharmacy career in 1980 with Rite Aid, where he worked his way up to director of professional placement and director of pharmacy and therapeutic

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The main office of the Food and Drug Administration in charge of regulating generic drugs has appointed a new director, the agency said Friday.

The FDA announced the appointment of Gregory Geba as director of the Office of Generic Drugs, replacing acting director Keith Webber, effective Sunday.

Geba has served in various senior-level clinical and managerial positions in the drug industry for the past 15 years, most recently as deputy chief medical officer for Sanofi US, a subsidiary of French drug maker Sanofi.
