AUSTIN, Texas — A veterinary group in Texas is urging pet owners to protect their cats and dogs from heartworms.

The Texas Veterinary Medical Association is marking Heartworm Awareness Month in April, warning about the ease by which mosquitoes can transmit the illness to pets.

OMAHA, Neb. — Sergeant's Pet Care Products has launched a generic version of a commonly used spray for killing fleas and ticks in dogs and cats, the company said Tuesday.

Sergeant's announced the launch of Pronyl, a version of Sanofi's Frontline. Pronyl uses the same active ingredient, Fipronil, but also uses what the company calls Bag-on-Valve technology that allows a continuous and quiet spray from any angle.

JAMESBURG, N.J. — Design Weave USA on Wednesday introduced a patented anti-bedbug and anti-dust mite dryer sheet under the Rest Easy brand.

According to the company, the dryer sheets naturally kill and repel bedbugs and dust mites. The dryer sheets are EPA exempt, according to the company.

“The dryer sheets work in your dryer to add the protection from a micro-encapsulated process to your bedding, effective for a full week of protection,” Design Weave USA VP product development and marketing Dan Harris said.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Bayer HealthCare's Rid brand is taking its battle beyond lice with the introduction of Rid home lice, bed bug and dust mite spray.
