Bi-Lo Holding, parent company of Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, on Tuesday announced a long-term agreement under which Keene, N.H.-based C&S Wholesale Grocers will provide warehouse, transportation and most procurement services for all 480 Winn-Dixie stores and continue providing services to all 206 Bi-Lo stores.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Anthea Jones has assumed the role of president at Bi-Lo. He will continue to serve as SVP operations. 

Jones comes to the position from the Bi-Lo side of the recent merger between regional supermarkets Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie. He signed on with Bi-Lo in 1999 after 17 years at Food Lion. He also is the immediate past board chairman for the Global Market Development Center. 

Jones succeeds Michael Byars in the position. Randall Onstead continues as president and CEO of the combined company, Bi-Lo Holdings.

The Human Rights Campaign released its 2013 Corporate Equality Index, which gives companies ratings of up to 100% based on their policies regarding LGBT employees and also released a buyer's guide for LGBT consumers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores on Wednesday announced the donation of a 50-ft. refrigerated semi-trailer to Second Harvest North Florida, the regional food bank that supplies food to 450 local nonprofit organizations across 17 counties in northern Florida.

Winn-Dixie donated the trailer after learning the food bank's existing trailer was no longer road-worthy and is being used as an auxiliary refrigeration unit to store perishable foods. The trailer was loaded with approximately 13,000 lbs. of food to restock the food bank's nearly empty warehouse.

Guests at any of the grocer’s in-store pharmacies can choose from the standard vaccination, a high-dose vaccine recommended for those 65 years and older or an Intradermal flu vaccination administered with a microneedle that is 90% smaller than traditional needles, Winn-Dixie stated.

WABAN, Mass. — Publix, Hy-Vee, H-E-B, Sam's Club, Winn-Dixie, ShopRite and Giant Eagle were among the highest-rated companies for customer service, according to new research from the Temkin Group.

Among the winners, grocery chains were the only industry to earn a "strong" rating. Retailers, fast food chains, appliance makers and investment firms rounded out the top five. But consumers gave very low ratings to TV service providers and Internet service providers.

Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie will continue to operate under the same banners, and the company does not expect any store closures as a result of the merger.

WABAN, MASS. — Research results released Tuesday by Temkin Group, which rates the customer experience of 206 large companies across 18 industries, showed that only eight companies deliver excellent customer experience.

Sam's Club and Publix led the pack, followed by Starbucks, Subway, Chick-fil-A, Aldi, Winn-Dixie, H-E-B and credit unions.

According to the 2012 Temkin Experience Ratings, in its second year, 76 companies (37% of the total) earned "poor" or "very poor" ratings.

NEW YORK — Winn-Dixie CEO Peter Lynch is stepping down, according to published reports.

The Florida Times-Union reported Friday that Lynch would resign as CEO of the Jacksonville, Fla.-based supermarket chain, following its merger with Bi-Lo, but would remain for 60 to 120 more days until the merger is complete.

Following completion of the merger, Bi-Lo chairman Randall Onstead will step in as president and CEO, the newspaper reported.
