The study, led by researchers at Newcastle University and the Regional Maternity Survey Office and funded by Diabetes UK, suggests that as many as 1-in-13 deliveries to women with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes involves a major congenital anomaly, also known as a birth defect.

BURLINGTON, Mass. — Two classes of drugs for treating Type 2 diabetes will experience the biggest growth in market share of all classes of drugs for the condition, according to a new study by Decision Resources.

The study found that DPP-IV inhibitors and GLP-1 analogues would experience the biggest growth in market share among all drug classes, with a combined market share that will increase from 20% in 2010 to 47% in 2020 in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Japan.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Reckitt Benckiser has achieved 75% of its target goal for the company's Carbon 20 program, RB said in its sustainability report.

The Carbon 20 program, which was launched in 2007, is an initiative set by RB to reduce its own carbon footprint by 20% by 2020.

Additionally, RB also said in the report that all of its household products now tout 100% non-PVC packaging. This includes such brands as Finish, Vanish, Lysol, Harpic and Air Wick.

NEW YORK — Half of U.S. adults will be obese by 2030, according to a new study published in The Lancet.

The research, part of a four-part series published in the journal this week, projected that the number of obese adults in the country would jump from 99 million in 2008 to 164 million by 2030, a 65.6% increase. What's more, the U.S. obesity rate will rise from 32% to about 50% for men, and from 35% to a range between 45% and 52% for women.
