Walgreens recognized by EPA for supply chain leadership

Walgreens on Tuesday received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2012 SmartWay Excellence Award, the organization's highest recognition for demonstrated leadership in supply chain goods movement.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded two Food Lion stores its 2011 gold-level GreenChill store certification award.

SALISBURY, N.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded two Food Lion stores its 2011 gold-level GreenChill store certification award.

The stores are located in Conyers, Ga., and Columbia, S.C. Food Lion became a founding partner with the EPA's GreenChill program in 2007.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg's announced that seven of its U.S. cookie and cracker bakeries have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star certification.

The seven Kellogg's facilities represent more than half of the 13 EPA-recognized U.S. cookie and cracker bakeries from multiple companies.

The certification builds on Kellogg's commitment to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by 15% to 20% by 2015.
