Kentucky initiates awareness campaign around 'smurfing' of PSE products

Gov. Steve Beshear on Monday announced the launch of a privately funded, statewide campaign aimed at increasing public awareness about "smurfing," the illegal process of buying products containing pseudoephedrine on behalf of methamphetamine criminals.

Steve Beshear on Monday announced the launch of a privately funded, statewide campaign aimed at increasing public awareness about "smurfing," the illegal process of buying products containing pseudoephedrine on behalf of methamphetamine criminals. The goal of the Anti-Smurfing Campaign is to inform potential smurfers and the general public — through signage displayed at pharmacy sales counters — that smurfing is a serious criminal offense that can result in criminal charges and possibly time in jail.

Pressman Toy is launching a line of games and puzzles based both on the first movie and the classic artwork of "The Smurfs."

NEW YORK — Pressman Toy is launching a line of games and puzzles based both on the first movie and the classic artwork of "The Smurfs."

The line includes a range of memory, action and board games, as well as floor size puzzles and puzzles in tins, all priced under $20, the company said. Additionally, Pressman Toy also will launch a line of new products inspired by Columbia Pictures'/Sony Pictures Animation's 3D release "The Smurfs 2," scheduled to be released next summer.

'The Smurfs' gets sweet treatment

My Idol Pops is rolling out licensed confections based on the upcoming 3-D movie "The Smurfs."

LOS ANGELES — My Idol Pops is rolling out licensed confections through its My Idolpops line based on the upcoming 3-D movie "The Smurfs."

The beloved blue characters, including Clumsy, Smurfette, Papa and Brainy, are captured in My Idolpops hand-crafted lollipops. The 1-oz. lollipops are wrapped in a bag bearing the colorful image of each Smurf character and displayed in a four-color playful display box of 24. The pops also are available in peg-hook bags of two pops each.

"The Smurfs" is slated for theatrical release on July 29.
