Teva Health Systems has launched a generic injectable drug for small-cell lung cancer, the company said.

NORTH WALES, Pa. — Teva Health Systems has launched a generic injectable drug for small-cell lung cancer, the company said Tuesday.

Teva, a subsidiary of Teva Pharmaceuticals, itself a subsidiary of Israel-based Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, announced the launch of topotecan injection in the 1 mg-per-1 mL strength, in 4 mL, single-dose vials.

The drug is a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Hycamtin.

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA will delay the sales of generic versions of two Gilead Sciences HIV drugs until June 2013, the company stated.

NEW YORK — Teva Pharmaceuticals USA will delay the sales of generic versions of two Gilead Sciences HIV drugs until June 2013, the company stated. The decision comes pending a long-running patent suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Teva may launch generics for Truvada (i.e., emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) and Viread (i.e., tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) on June 1 if there is no ruling holding that the patents-in-suit are invalid or unenforceable, according to an agreement filed between the drug makers Nov. 27.

According to the reports, the joint venture didn't raise competition concerns. P&G will have a 51% stake in the venture.

The Food and Drug Administration has reviewed new data that indicated that budeprion XL (bupropion hydrochloride extended-release tablets) in the 300-mg strength, manufactured by Impax Labs and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, is not therapeutically equivalent to Wellbutrin XL in the 300-mg strength.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Two generic drug makers have settled with a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson and another company concerning a drug used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Impax Labs and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA had settled a patent infringement suit with Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Alza over Concerta (methylphenidate hydrochloride) extended-release tablets in the 18-mg, 27-mg, 36-mg and 54-mg strengths.

Teva announced the launch of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules in the 20-mg, 30-mg and 40-mg strength. The drug, a generic version of Novartis' Ritalin, is available in 100-pill bottles.

According to the international consulting and research firm's Nonprescription Drugs USA 2011 report, at the manufacturers' level, the U.S. OTC drug market posted a gain of 2.4%, reaching $21.4 billion in 2011.

Teva announced the launch of olanzapine orally disintegrating tablets in the 5-mg, 10-mg, 15-mg and 20-mg strengths in blister packs of 30.

The drug is a generic version of Eli Lilly's Zyprexa Zydis, used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

TRENTON, N.J. — Six retailers on Wednesday filed suit naming Wyeth and Teva Pharmaceuticals as defendants and alleging that the defendants unlawfully delayed the entry of generic versions of Wyeth's antidepressant Effexor XR (venlafaxine). A summons was issued to Wyeth and Teva on Thursday.

The retailers include Ahold USA, H-E-B, Kroger, Safeway, Supervalu and Walgreens. The companies are suing for three-times damages plus attorneys fees.

Wyeth was acquired by Pfizer in October 2009.

Teva announced the launch of Camrese, an authorized generic of Duramed’s Seasonique (levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets and ethinyl estradiol tablets).

The launch of Teva’s authorized generic follows the launch of Watson Pharmaceuticals’ generic version of the drug, which it is marketing under the name Amethia.

Teva announced the launch of Zeosa (norethindrone and ethinyl estradiol) tablets.

The drug is chemically equivalent to Warner Chilcott’s Femcon Fe tablets and is available in the 0.4 mg/0.035 mg strength.
