"Our market model is very sound," said AJ Khubani, CEO of TeleBrands. "As a group of companies, we test market hundreds of products on television, then bring the top 10 to retail. Drug chains are only getting the products that are most successful. They are consumer-tested with a known demand and significant advertising support."

consumer sales. In its first two weeks on the JW Greensheet industry report of the top 75 traditional direct response spots, the product climbed to the No. 2 position — a rate that is “extremely rare,” according to Greensheet publisher John Kogler.

“One major drug chain told us that as a nonpharmacy revenue producer, the category is second only to the OTC cold and flu category,” Khubani said. That’s why chain drug retailers continue to devote more space to the category — and not just in the most profitable fourth quarter.

TeleBrands has launched Sticky Buddy, a new reusable sticky roller that is designed to remove hair, crumbs and more without ruining fabrics.

FAIRFIELD, N.J. — TeleBrands has launched Sticky Buddy, a new reusable sticky roller that is designed to remove hair, crumbs and more without ruining fabrics.

The company said it recently secured the exclusive intellectual property rights for the roller, which was invented by Tylor Ross of South Bend, Ind. The roller also features little "rubber fingers" that help users reach deep into carpets to remove ground-in messes, TeleBrands said.

Americans spend three to four hours a day in the kitchen, so housewares — particularly kitchenware — can be a key gift category for drug stores. The channel had a 4.2% share of the housewares business, according to the International Housewares Association’s “2010 State of the Industry Report.” Much of the channel’s sales come from cookware, bakeware and kitchen tools.

Together they account for a significant portion of sales for the category whose customers are early adopters and seek new, innovative and value-driven products.
