With summer officially under way, it comes as little surprise that sales of sun care products rose during the most recent 12 weeks available from SymphonyIRI Group. Product innovation and greater consumer education on how to protect skin from the sun’s harmful rays also helped fuel growth.


According to SymphonyIRI Group, sales of suntan lotions and oils rose more than 2% to $388.67 million during the 12 weeks ended July 8 at food, drug and mass (excluding Walmart).

The new campaign offers free skin care guides in stores and online, expert advice from pharmacists and continued support for the fifth annual Road to Healthy Skin Tour, also offered under a collaboration with the foundation. The tour, launched in March, is visiting more than 50 Rite Aid stores around the country and offering free, full-body skin cancer screenings.

NEW YORK — Organic baby brand Green Babies has expanded its Green Babies body care line with a new zinc oxide broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen.

The sunscreen now is available in many Whole Foods Market stores throughout the nation, select specialty retail stores and on Green Babies' website. The new product, developed in partnership with manufacturer MZB Accessories, will retail for roughly $16.99. It is available in two versions: unscented and lightly scented with tangerine essential oil.
