JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The philanthropic arm of supermarket operator Bi-Lo Holdings is donating more than $3 million to charities in the South, the company said.

The Bi-Lo Holdings Foundation said it would donate about $3.2 million to 281 non-profit organizations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, particularly organizations focused on hunger, education, health, women and children. Bi-Lo Holdings operates the Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie supermarket banners.

With the launch of Procter & Gamble's ZzzQuil, a relatively quiet sleep category has exploded with energy this year. A lot of that has to do with the $121.1 million in sales that ZzzQuil — both tablet and liquid formulations — has generated this year.

But that doesn't explain everything. The entire category is up nearly $145 million. For the 52 weeks ended June 16 across total U.S. multi-outlets, IRI measured a 707.4% lift in sleep liquid sales to $89.7 million. The slightly larger category of sleep tablets realized a 29.8% lift in sales to $294.2 million.

Astellas Pharma US announced the availability of Myrbetriq (mirabegron) extended-release tablets. The drug is used to treat OAB with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency and urinary frequency. The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug on June 28, 2012.

COLLINSVILLE, Conn. — Passage Foods has expanded its Passage to China cooking sauces line with two new flavors.

The Passage to China lineup now includes black bean stir-fry and honey, soy and garlic sauces. The sauces are all-natural, gluten-free, preservative-free recipes that contain fresh, natural ingredients and can be paired with both meat and vegetables, the company said.

Passage Foods also produces such cooking sauces as Passage to Indian, Passage to Thailand and Passage to Morocco.
