Food Lion to implement more MVP savings center kiosks

Food Lion announced Friday that it would add more of its MVP savings center kiosks to help customers save on their grocery bills.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion announced Friday that it would add more of its MVP savings center kiosks to help customers save on their grocery bills.

MVP savings center kiosks, which are part of Food Lion's MVP customer loyalty card program, were introduced in stores last year. Since their introduction, kiosk coupons have up to five times the redemption rate when compared with coupons delivered via traditional distribution channels, Food Lion said.

Money-saving coupon kiosks also can be found at Bloom and at Harveys.

Food Lion recognizes Bloom store manager with award

The Food Lion Family and Bloom have recognized Scott Brinson as the recipient of the 2010 store manager excellence award. Brinson, who is the store manager of a Food Lion in Jacksonville, N.C., was selected from a group of seven other market/banner winners.

The store manager excellence awards are a key part of Food Lion Family's and Bloom's efforts to acknowledge the leadership role store managers play. Food Lion Family president Cathy Green Burns presented Brinson with the award earlier this week during the company's Leadership Summit.

SAN ANTONIO — Super Bowl viewers got a surprise while watching the Big Game on Sunday: A commercial featuring an exclusive song about retailer H-E-B, performed by country star Jack Ingram.

The Texas-based retailer let Super Bowl watchers know that, "You Can't Spell Texas without H-E-B." The commercial featured dancers in stetsons and images of all things Texas, with country crooner Ingram celebrating the Lone Star state, mentioning cities both big and small, and showing that H-E-B is as big as the state's pride.

HOUSTON — Drank has expanded its distribution to the Carolinas.

The makers of Drank, Innovative Beverage Group Holdings, said that Adam's Beverage, an independent distributor, will bring the relaxation beverage to North Carolina, as well as to additional cities in South Carolina.

Drank hit the market in early 2008.

Food Lion family, Bottom Dollar Food announce results of Hunger Has a Cure campaign

Food Lion family of stores and Bottom Dollar Food donated a record 1.5 million lbs. of food to local food banks.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion family of stores and Bottom Dollar Food donated a record 1.5 million lbs. of food to local food banks.

The retailers kicked off their eighth annual Hunger Has a Cure campaign, and sold roughly 250,000 boxes in the effort, which ran from Nov. 17 to Dec. 28, 2010.

The food was donated to food banks affiliated with Feeding America.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Baptist Healthcare System, which operates a network of hospitals and other facilities throughout the state, is looking to expand the number of clinics it operates inside select Walmart locations, according to a local news report.

Baptist Healthcare System currently operates six Baptist Express Care clinics at six Walmart stores in the state.

According to Business First of Louisville, the healthcare system is looking to open 24 clinics in such areas as Middletown and Shelbyville, Nicholasville and Somerset, Ky.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Baptist Healthcare System is opening a second clinic in the Louisville area, according to local reports.

 

Business First of Louisville reported that the new Baptist Express Care clinic will be located in a Walmart supercenter in LaGrange. The clinics offer such healthcare services as check-ups, screenings, immunizations and treatments for other minor injuries.
