MEMPHIS — Fred's on Friday launched a holiday layaway plan featuring no fees and a down payment of only $1.

"Fred’s realizes that the current economy presents difficult challenges to its customers and Fred's wants to offer as much assistance as it can," Fred's SVP sales and marketing Dave Mueller said. "That’s why we came up with a layaway plan that — with just one dollar down and absolutely no fees — is unlike any others and will stretch shoppers’ dollars during a time when it will be most welcome."

Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy has promoted its SVP managed markets and clinical services to SVP sales and marketing, the company said Tuesday.

FLINT, Mich. — Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy has promoted its SVP managed markets and clinical services to SVP sales and marketing, the company said Tuesday.

Diplomat said the newly promoted executive, Atheer Kaddis, would report directly to the company's president, Gary Kadlec. Kaddis preciously worked as director of pharmacy services clinical for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Chicken of the Sea is pairing its canned tuna with what the company calls "breakthrough technology."

SAN DIEGO — Chicken of the Sea is pairing its canned tuna with what the company calls "breakthrough technology."

New Chicken of the Sea has launched no-drain tuna, which offers the company's solid, steak-like tuna in every can without the need for draining. The package also touts an easy-to-open convenient lid.

John Sawyer, SVP sales and marketing for Chicken of the Sea International, said the company is the first brand in the United States to offer the technology, which has experienced great success in overseas markets.
