Supervalu has appointed Rite Aid president, chairman and CEO John Standley to its board of directors, the supermarket operator said. The company also announced the appointment of Cerberus Capital Management COO and general counsel Mark Neporent.

Roundy's sales, profits fall in third quarter 2012

The continued softness of the economy weighed down on sales and profits at Roundy's during third quarter 2012, the Midwestern supermarket chain said Friday.

MILWAUKEE — The continued softness of the economy weighed down on sales and profits at Roundy's during third quarter 2012, the Midwestern supermarket chain said Friday.

The company reported sales of $973.6 million, a 0.3% decrease from third-quarter 2011, while profits were $8.8 million, down from $12.4 million last year. Roundy's operates 161 stores with 98 pharmacies under the Pick 'n Save, Rainbow, Copps, Metro Market and Mariano's banners in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois.

Roundy's makes store-level pricing execution efficient with GPC Nexgen program

Midwestern retailer Roundy’s Supermarkets has partnered with Grandville Printing to digitally print weekly in-store shelf tags and price signs, Roundy’s said Wednesday.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Midwestern retailer Roundy’s Supermarkets has partnered with Grandville Printing to digitally print weekly in-store shelf tags and price signs, Roundy’s said Wednesday.

The chain said it had fully deployed the GPC Nexgen program, whereby shelf tags and price signs are delivered pre-burst and boxed in planogram order by aisle for each store, thus giving the retailer's pricing and marketing departments the ability to make changes faster and benefit from relevant messages to consumers at the shelf.

Roundy's said it will leverage Revionics' analytic services, which will provide the retailer with insight into market patterns and consumer preferences to make better, fact-based decisions.

ClearLite's ArmorLite bulbs, which provide earth-friendly, energy-saving “natural” lighting, are available at Roundy's as well as the chain's Pick ‘n Save, Copps Food Center and Rainbow Foods banners.

 

Roundy's operates 154 stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
