CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is sponsoring its second annual nail-art contest, the retail pharmacy chain said Tuesday.

Rite Aid announced the launch of its "Nail Extravaganza," based around the two-round "Search for the Rite Aid Nail Enthusiast" contest; the first round runs through May 24. Contestants compete for 20 prizes by submitting nail designs at Riteaidnails.com.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is donating $100,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in addition to what it has donated already, the retail pharmacy chain said.

Rite Aid announced that it would donate $50,000 each to the Empire State Relief Fund, established by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and the New Jersey Relief Fund, established by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. The chain already donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross' relief efforts in October.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is using its social networking sites to offer 10 days of deals for the summer, the retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

Rite Aid said it would use the Rites — a fictional, digital family comprising Procrastinating Papa Rite, Deal Digger Mama Rite, Over-the-Top Olivia Rite, Scrooge Sally Rite, and Prepare and Preppy Patrick Rite — to promote deals across its Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest pages.

NEW YORK — Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppler was on hand at the Rite Aid store in New York's Grand Central Terminal Friday to accept a check from the retail pharmacy chain for the Children's Miracle Network.

Rite Aid's New York stores raised $348,880 for the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York through a Miracle Balloon campaign, including $7,000 raised by the Grand Central store. Rite Aid has been raising money for the organization since 1994.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid category manager Paul Margeson has resigned, a company spokeswoman said.

Rumors surfaced last week that Margeson, who managed the pain care, gastrointestinal, smoking-cessation and upper-respiratory categories for the Camp Hill, Pa.-based retail pharmacy chain, had resigned.

"We thank him for his contributions to the company," Rite Aid spokeswoman Ashley Flower told Drug Store News, adding that the company intends to fill the position.

NEW YORK — Rite Aid and LifeScan kicked off the Rite Track Diabetes Tour in New York on Tuesday with a special appearance by celebrity chef Sam Talbot.

The tour, which runs through November — to mark American Diabetes Month — and December will visit more than 30 locations across the Northeast in a specially outfitted RV and offer free diabetes testing, resources and materials.
