Rosenbluth was a co-founder of Take Care Health Systems, which was acquired by Walgreens in 2007. Prior to that, he led Rosenbluth International, a global travel management company, which he sold to American Express in 2003.

MONROVIA, Calif. — Biotab Nutraceuticals on Tuesday initiated a voluntary recall of two lots of Extenze nutritional supplement tablets.

Some packages bearing lot numbers 0709241 and 0509075 are counterfeit products containing undeclared drug ingredients that can pose a serious risk to health, the company stated.

Kim & Scott's gluten-free soft pretzels, which can be found in the frozen food aisle of Whole Foods and other retailers this spring, boast a blend of five "ancient grains," the company said, including sorghum flour, millet flour, quinoa flour, amaranth flour and teff flour.

In addition to the gluten-free product, Kim & Scott's Gourmet Pretzels tout more than 12 varieties.

Rite Aid has expanded its free prescription delivery service to more than 400 stores in the New York metropolitan area, the retail pharmacy chain announced Monday.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has expanded its free prescription delivery service to more than 400 stores in the New York metropolitan area, the retail pharmacy chain announced Monday.

The service allows patients to receive their medications between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., though they must wait until the next day if they send their prescriptions after 11 a.m., and some limitations apply, such as for medications that require refrigeration.

CVS Caremark announced on Friday that the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute awarded the company and its PBM client, ArcelorMittal, the 2011 Rx Benefit Innovation Award. The award recognizes the Pharmacy Advisor program, which was developed by CVS Caremark to manage costs, improve medication adherence and close gaps in care for members with diabetes.

“Over the past five years, there’s been an explosion of these products at retail,” said Tom Haire, editor of Response Magazine, a publication that covers the direct-response industry. “Retailers see products that fly off the shelves because they’ve been advertised so heavily, and manufacturers see an opportunity to extend the life of the brand.”

Generic drug usage already has been on the rise year after year, with no sign of slowing down. As Jody Fisher, VP marketing for healthcare analytics at market research firm SDI, has told Drug Store News, generics accounted for more than 70% of products dispensed at retail pharmacies and are set to increase further this year.

WAYNE, N.J. — IdeaVillage’s new EasyFeet is the latest introduction in the active foot care As Seen On TV category. The flip-flop-like product — called a car wash for the feet — has 10,000 soft-scrubbing bristles and a built-in pumice stone to clean feet and rub away dead, dry skin on the heels. Suction cups hold EasyFeet in place, so consumers can safely use the product on tub and shower surfaces.
