With just about 90 days to go until the start of the first-ever Total Store Expo in Las Vegas this August, DSN convened executives from leading consumer health and consumer packaged goods companies for a frank and wide-ranging discussion about how their companies are preparing to win at TSE. The show — which will combine the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ former Marketplace, Supply Chain and Logistics, and Pharmacy and Technology conferences into one new mega-show — will bring together retail executives and suppliers from all three fields.

In all, about 75% of readers said they are extremely (31%) or mostly (44%) satisfied with their current job working in a retail clinic. What has changed somewhat over the years is the chief reason retail clinicians seem to like what they do. For the first time, the ability to work directly with patients to improve health outcomes trumps the autonomy and independence the model affords clinicians who have worked in other practice settings, with more than 6-of-10 citing some aspect of patient care.

Everybody loves a comeback story, and it looks as though the retail pharmacy industry has one of its own in the making as Rite Aid’s latest earnings report showed another strong quarter for the Camp Hill, Pa.-based chain, which has been steadily growing its sales and narrowing its losses for several quarters already.

TORONTO — Prestige cosmetics and skin care brand Pari Beauty has opened its first-ever storefront location in an Ontario mall as part of its expansion strategy, the company has announced.

Located in Scarborough Town Centre in Ontario, the store marks the third of three recent openings that include two mall boutique kiosks in Oakville Place and Vaughan Mills showcasing its line of products.

Rite Aid is offering to buy back $810 million worth of debt while increasing the amount of a new bond sale announced Tuesday, the retail pharmacy chain said.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is offering to buy back $810 million worth of debt while increasing the amount of a new bond sale announced Tuesday, the retail pharmacy chain said.

Rite Aid said it would buy back all of its $810 million worth of 9.5% senior notes due 2017. The company also said it would increase the $400 million offering of 6.75% senior notes due 2021 by another $410 million, for a total of $810 million, as part of a debt-refinancing plan.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is launching an extension to its Wellness+ loyalty card program aimed at elderly customers, the retail pharmacy chain said Wednesday.

Rite Aid announced Wellness65+, which makes customers age 65 years and older who enroll automatically eligible for an expanded pharmacist consultation, during which they can bring in current medications for a review by the pharmacist and discuss immunization needs.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association announced Wednesday the appointment of Sears Holdings Corp. president for Sears and Kmart, EVP and chief merchandising officer Ron Boire. Other executives include CEOs of The Home Depot, 7-Eleven, Petco Animal Supplies and J.C. Penney Co.
