Most recently a district manager with Albertsons LLC’s Southern division, Hays will lead the operations team to support Jewel-Osco’s marketing and merchandising initiatives, including the company’s upcoming remodels and opening their five newly acquired Dominick’s locations.

AUSTIN, Texas — Retail clinic operator RediClinic has formed a joint venture with Seton Healthcare Family to expand the number of RediClinics operating in H-E-B stores in the Austin, Texas area.

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Seton because it will enable us to expand our service in the Austin community,” said Web Golinkin, RediClinic’s CEO. “This means at least doubling the number of clinics we operate in Austin and collaborating with Seton to ensure continuity of care for RediClinic patients.”

The New York State legislature recently wrapped up its 2015 budget negotiations with a favorable outcome for community pharmacy as it rejected an executive branch proposal to change how New York’s Medicaid program reimburses pharmacies for prescription medications.

WASHINGTON — The New York State legislature recently wrapped up its 2015 budget negotiations with a favorable outcome for community pharmacy: It rejected an executive branch proposal to change how New York’s Medicaid program reimburses pharmacies for prescription medications.

If enacted, the proposal would have cut payments to pharmacies by $82 million annually, according to estimates, by setting the price for drugs based on a three-month rolling average acquisition cost.

Total U.S. retail sales during 2013 reportedly reached $4.5 trillion, a 4.2% increase from $4.4 billion in 2012. According to new data from EMarketer, e-commerce sales of $263.3 billion, up 16.9% from $225.3 billion the prior year, helped drive overall retail sales growth.

NEW YORK — Total U.S. retail sales during 2013 reportedly reached $4.5 trillion, a 4.2% increase from $4.4 billion in 2012. According to new data from EMarketer, e-commerce sales of $263.3 billion, up 16.9% from $225.3 billion the prior year, helped drive overall retail sales growth.

Non-e-commerce sales totaled about $4.3 billion, a 3.5% increase from $4.12 billion in 2012. In 2014, EMarketer predicts that e-commerce sales in rhe U.S. will grow 15.5% to total $304.1 billion, or 6.4% of total retail sales of $4.73 billion.

Costco announced on Thursday that its March sales increased 8% to $10.43 billion.

ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco announced on Thursday that its March sales increased 8% to $10.43 billion.

This year's five-week period, ended April 6, included 35 days of sales compared to 34 last year, reflecting the timing of Easter. This calendar shift positively impacted this year's net and comparable sales by an estimated 1 to 1.5%, the company stated.

During March, same-store sales rose 6% in the United States. For the total company, same-store sales increased 5% during that period.

Prescription drug trend grew 3.8% in 2013, driven by significant price inflation for traditional brand drugs, specialty drugs and generics, as well as an increase in utilization as members filled more prescriptions in the slowly improving economy, according to the findings of CVS Caremark’s annual "Insights" report released on Thursday.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores on Thursday reported that for the second quarter of fiscal year 2014 ended March 1, net sales totaled $2.7 billion, representing a decline of 6.1%. Earnings per diluted share in the second quarter of fiscal 2014 were $0.80 as compared to $1.21 in the second quarter of fiscal 2013. 

Comparable store sales for the 13-week period decreased 3.8% as a result of decreased customer transactions, partially offset by an increase in the average customer transaction value.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid on Thursday announced it has acquired Houston-based RediClinic, one of the nation’s leading operators of retail clinics. RediClinic currently operates 30 clinics in the greater Houston, Austin and San Antonio areas. Through the acquisition, RediClinic will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Rite Aid. 

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
