The new syrup targets such symptoms of the common cold as nasal and chest congestion, cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing and minor sore throat. It provides parents with an option that works naturally with their little one’s bodies for children ages 3 years and older after manufacturers of antihistamines and decongestants relabeled their products for children 4 years of age and older.

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — The booming 2012-2013 cough-cold season may not have come with a fresh set of challenges for the 2013-2014 season. Retailers who had to beef up their cold and flu remedy supplies in the latter half of the season may not need to order as heavily over the summer as they may have in the past. A late start to the allergy season also is reducing the need for cough-cold stock.

The first offering in the new line will be Reese’s Old School Charcoal Capsules, a dietary supplement for the relief of intestinal gas and flatulence.  

The main ingredient, activated charcoal, is a highly recognized, proven remedy that adsorbs the toxins that cause flatus and gas, reducing after-meal discomfort.

A company that manufactures a line of natural, drug-free cough products is donating more than 20,000 bottles to children in developing countries.

SALT LAKE CITY — A company that manufactures a line of natural, drug-free cough products is donating more than 20,000 bottles to children in developing countries.

Zarbee's said Wednesday it would donate 22,872 bottles of cough products to K.I.D.S.: A Global Children's Charity, which will distribute them to underserved children in distressed areas of Guatemala and North Korea.

The company's products are made from a blend of vitamins and antioxidant-rich dark honeys, which it says calm coughs and sooth sore throats in young children.

The products all feature "decongestant-free" on the package underneath the St. Joseph brand, long known for its 81-mg daily aspirin regimen. The lineup includes a multi-symptom day/night caplet formulation, two formulations targeting cold and flu symptoms and a cough tablet SKU.

Zarbee's Nighttime Cough and Sleep Drink is made from antioxidant-rich buckwheat honey, which recent clinical studies have shown is more effective at relieving coughs associated with colds and upper respiratory illnesses than dextromethorphan or diphenhydramine, the company claimed.
