The New York Mets announced the launch of the "Honorary Captain" program presented by Duane Reade, which gives fans the opportunity to be an honorary team captain and bring out the Mets lineup card before one of the Subway Series games, which will be held July 1 to 3 at Citi Field.

New York-based retailer Duane Reade, which is owned by Walgreens, has inked a deal with Belli skin care and now is carrying the pregnancy skin care products in 200 Duane Reade stores.

NEW YORK — New York-based retailer Duane Reade, which is owned by Walgreens, has inked a deal with Belli skin care and now is carrying the pregnancy skin care products in 200 Duane Reade stores.

Duane Reade stores will offer Belli's Complexion Protection Duo — Belli's acne clearing facial wash and anti-chloasma facial sunscreen — to help protect skin from breakouts and uneven skin tone. The product set, valued at $46, will be offered at Duane Reade for $39.99. The product set will be merchandised in the expecting and new mom section of the baby aisle.

NEW YORK — Duane Reade is inviting comedic talents to supply humorous or witty captions for a Duane Reade cartoon as part of the retailer's Facebook "Caption Contest" that kicks off this week.

Each week for the next four weeks, the Manhattan-based retailer, which is owned by Walgreens, will run a caption-less cartoon in selected New York newspapers, where a uniquely New York scene or scenario is ripe for a clever caption. The subject matter in the various cartoons is designed to strike a chord with most city denizens.

A fresh new vision has come into view at Duane Reade as the Walgreens-owned retailer expanded its fresh food and grocery offerings. In its Union Square store in Manhattan, shown here, consumers are greeted by an expansive food offering that includes an island of such on-the-go meals as oatmeal, sushi, sandwiches and salads; baked goods with a self-service coffee bar; and an array of frozen foods. The concept also prominently features the store-brand DR Delish line of premium snacks and beverages.

Before Walgreens bought out Duane Reade, the intersection of Avenue J and East 15th Street in Brooklyn was home to a Walgreens and a Duane Reade store. Shortly after the purchase, Walgreens shut down the Duane Reade store, an older store that had a less visible location under elevated railway tracks. Now, independent pharmacies along Avenue J are trying to attract the business of former Duane Reade customers.
