MIDDLETON, Wis. — Spectrum Brands Holdings’ Rayovac battery division recently launched a new line of portable charging products, including the Rayovac 2-Hour Power mobile charging device, which provides instant power to Apple and Micro USB mobile devices. Other new products are the 7-Hour Back-Up Power Pack, the Phone Boost Keychain Charger and portable USB Car & Wall Chargers.

Hearing aid and coin batteries are outperforming other battery segments. Fueled by an aging population that is more willing than ever before to wear hearing aids, the hearing aid battery segment has continued to grow over the last several years.

Hearing aid and coin batteries are outperforming other battery segments. Fueled by an aging population that is more willing than ever before to wear hearing aids, the hearing aid battery segment has continued to grow over the last several years.

"Improved technology and the changing needs of the aging population are leading more people with hearing loss to do something about it," said Ramon Velutini, brand manager for Duracell NA. "Ten years ago, 1-in-5 people with hearing loss used a hearing aid. Now that percentage has grown to 1-in-4."

Research from the Freedonia Group indicates that the mature battery category is seeing modest topline growth largely due to a shift in the product mix toward premium batteries. Growth also is being driven by an increased proliferation of battery-dependent devices in the home, from toothbrushes to glucose monitors.

Alkaline batteries still dominate the consumer primary battery market, accounting for 84% of demand, according to the Freedonia Group. Alkaline batteries also are expected to record solid gains in consumer applications through 2015.

MADISON, Wis. — Battery manufacturer Rayovac has appointed a new senior brand manager and marketing coordinator to its North American hearing-aid battery division.

As senior brand manager, Ann Rule, a 14-year company veteran, will lead marketing efforts for the division, which produces the world’s leading auditory battery products. Jenna Johnson joins Rayovac's hearing-aid battery division as its marketing coordinator.
