The company says the new protein packs are positioned to become a major item in the protein-snacking category, which has enjoyed growth thanks to consumer desires for protein-filled snacks like Greek yogurt and protein bars. The on-the-go packs are made of three brands: Oscar Mayer Selects Meats, Kraft Natural Cheeses and Planters Nuts.

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Planters has re-entered the peanut butter business.

The brand has launched new peanut butter varieties under its Planters NUT-rition line, which include such ingredients as bananas, granola, berries, raisins, cinnamon and nuts. As part of the launch, Planters has introduced a mascot for the products, named Peanut Butter Doug.

EAST HANOVER, N.J. — Planters has partnered with a magazine to launch a new snack aimed at men.

Planters and Men's Health announced the debut of Planters NUT-rition Men's Health Recommended Mix, a blend of almonds, peanuts and pistachios that contains 6g of protein and six vitamins and minerals per 1-oz. serving. The venture marks the first time Men's Health has partnered with a snack brand, the magazine's publisher, Ronan Gardiner, said.

NEW YORK — Planters is bringing back its peanut butter business, according to published reports.

The company, which recently gave its Mr. Peanut brand mascot the chance to speak — giving him the voice of Robert Downey, Jr. — will reintroduce creamy and crunch peanut butter varieties, according to a New York Times blog. To mark the return into the peanut butter category, Planters is introducing a mascot for the products who will be called Peanut Butter Doug, the Times said.

Mr. Peanut will be featured in a series of stop-motion animation commercials that bring to life the “naturally remarkable” world of Planters. Lending his voice to Mr. Peanut for the Naturally Remarkable campaign is actor Robert Downey, Jr.
