AUSTIN, Texas — Specialty pharmacy provider The Apothecary Shops has opened its 18th store, the company said Monday.

TAS Specialty Pharmacy, an affiliate of Phoenix-based The Apothecary Shops of Deer Valley, opened a full-service specialty pharmacy with a compounding lab in Austin, Texas. The 2,500-sq.-ft. pharmacy will specialize in cancer, transplants, infectious diseases, fertility, women’s health, pain management, eye diseases and animal health.

Phoenix-Lazarus offers a “The Complete First Aid Kit” on Amazon for $24.95. Invented by a dentist, the Save-A-Tooth is a six-part system that protects knocked-out teeth.

According to the company, more than 5 million teeth are knocked out each year in the United States.

PHOENIX — A new consumer-oriented compliance tool was introduced by Medi-Ring on Tuesday.

The Medi-Ring reusable prescription label can be customized by the consumer to match prescription drugs to disease-state needs, the company said. The plastic Medi-Ring slips onto a prescription bottle, and the patient can write whatever he or she wants on it (e.g., “heart medicine” or “blood pressure”).

The Food Marketing Institute and Grocery Manufacturers Association said that Nutrition Keys, a voluntary front-of-pack nutrition labeling system, will help consumers make healthier choices when purchasing food. Front-of-pack nutrition labels place important nutrition information (i.e., calories, fat, saturated fat and sodium) where they can't be dismissed or ignored.

PHOENIX The Apothecary Shops, a Phoenix-based chain of specialty pharmacies with 16 locations in six states, has acquired the Greater Sacramento Specialty Pharmacy.

GSP, which provides services to patients and practitioners in California, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Idaho and Montana, will be a wholly owned subsidiary of The Apothecary Shops and will continue operating under the Greater Sacramento Specialty Pharmacy name. The acquisition of GSP bolsters the oncology specialty business for The Apothecary Shops. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
