NEW YORK — Beauty giant L'Oréal has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute, an independent center of research promoting best practices in corporate ethics and governance, as a “World's Most Ethical Company.”

This marks the fifth time that L'Oréal has received this award, which recognizes organizations that continue to raise the bar on ethical leadership and corporate behavior.

Sam's Club has the most loyal customers, according to a new study by the Temkin Group.

WABAN, Mass. — Sam's Club has the most loyal customers, according to a new study by the Temkin Group. The report, "2012 Temkin Loyalty Ratings," rated the loyalty that consumers have to 206 large companies across 18 industries.

Only seven companies earned "very strong" loyalty ratings. In addition to the retailers listed above, credit unions and USAA earned the distinction. Sam’s Club had the most loyal customers across all industries, with a loyalty rating of 65%.

And while that is fast becoming reality, today’s retailer will be looking to commit its capital expenditures to more than just the traditional new Main-and-Main locations.

Indian generic drug maker Aurobindo has received two approvals from the Food and Drug Administration.

HYDERABAD, India — Indian generic drug maker Aurobindo has received two approvals from the Food and Drug Administration.

The company said Wednesday that it received approval for galantamine tablets in the 4-, 8- and 12-mg strengths. The drug is a version of Johnson & Johnson’s Alzheimer’s treatment Razadyne; various versions of the drug had sales of $41 million during the 12 months ended in September 2010, according to IMS Health.

NEW YORK — A report released Tuesday by payment system provider ACI Worldwide found that many retail loyalty programs leave consumers feeling underappreciated, and many consumers are enrolled in a program they don’t completely understand.

Although 3-out-of-4 Americans are members of at least one retail loyalty card program, 85% of those surveyed said that they haven’t heard a single word from a loyalty program since the day they signed up. Likewise, 81% said they don’t even know the benefits of the program or how/when they will receive rewards.

Target has made the Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for 2011 list, the retail chain said Thursday.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target has made the Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for 2011 list, the retail chain said Thursday.

Target said the institute, an international business ethics organization, honored Target for business practices and initiatives that benefit the community. This is the fifth consecutive year in which the company has won the award.

By October, the open-sell concept had made its way into more than 50 Macy’s stores across the country, including the Herald Square location in New York. An additional 50 Macy’s stores will debut the concept in 2011.

Or rather, 69% of Americans are concerned about maintaining a healthy, active and sharp mind, the survey -- conducted by Opinion Research Corp. on behalf of Pharmavite -- found. Almost as many respondents (68%) reported having experienced some form of cognitive decline.
