APhA seeks nominations for new awards, honors

The American Pharmacists Association announced that nominations are being accepted for its practitioner awards and honors, which are administered by the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management.

WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association announced that nominations are being accepted for its practitioner awards and honors, which are administered by the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management.

APhA said that the awards, which will be presented at the APhA annual meeting and exposition in Los Angeles in March 2013, include the new APhA-APPM Pharmacy Management Excellence award and three new APhA-APPM Distinguished Achievement awards. Nominees are being sought for the following awards and honors:

The American Pharmacists Association is seeking nominations for its annual practitioner and scientific awards and honors, the organization said Wednesday.

WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association is seeking nominations for its annual practitioner and scientific awards and honors, the organization said Wednesday.

The APhA said it would present the winners at the annual APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans next March. The APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management administers the practitioner awards and honors, while the APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science administers the scientific awards and honors. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 15.

Convenience and cost savings offered by retail-based health clinics are attractive to urban patients. Given sufficient cost savings, those urban patients are likely to seek care at such facilities, causing possible further growth and employment opportunities for nurse practitioners in these clinics, according to research published in the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Helling, Lutz re-elected to APhA Foundation

The APhA Foundation said Tuesday that it has re-elected two prominent pharmacy leaders to its board of directors.

WASHINGTON — The APhA Foundation said Tuesday that it has re-elected two prominent pharmacy leaders to its board of directors. Dennis Helling and Eugene Lutz will be officially installed at the American Pharmacist Association’s 2011 Annual Meeting in Seattle on March 25 to 28.
