Erica Mann has been named the new head of Bayer HealthCare’s Consumer Care division and member of the Bayer HealthCare executive committee. She will join the company March 14.

LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Erica Mann has been named the new head of Bayer HealthCare’s Consumer Care division and member of the Bayer HealthCare executive committee. She will join the company March 14.

“Over the past 25 years, Mann has become noted in the industry for her strong record of delivering business results,” stated Jörg Reinhardt, Bayer chairman. “Her outstanding experience and insights will further enable [the consumer care division] to take advantage of the sustained growth forecast for the OTC market.”

Walgreens last month promoted Mia Scholz from corporate VP accounting and controller to SVP accounting and controller.

CHICAGO — Walgreens last month promoted Mia Scholz from corporate VP accounting and controller to SVP accounting and controller.

Scholz joined Walgreens in 1999 as director of internal audit. She was named a divisional VP in 2003, and was promoted to corporate VP accounting and controller in 2007.

Before joining Walgreens, Scholz was a senior manager for Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1988.

The team reporting to Berkowitz includes Walgreen veterans Frank DeStefano, Mike Bleser and Mike Allen, as well as newcomers Jeff Foreman and Gary Gleeson.

Grill comes to CHPA from the office of Rep. Charles Melancon, D-La., where she served as senior policy adviser. Prior to that, Grill worked as director of federal government relations at Pfizer.

Cox served as the chief strategist for the association’s external communications efforts surrounding regulatory and legislative issues impacting the pharmaceutical industry.

WASHINGTON — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association on Thursday announced that Emily Skor has been selected to serve as VP communications and alliance development, effective Feb. 14.

Reporting to CHPA president and CEO Scott Melville, Skor will oversee and provide strategic direction for all association communications, media relations, public education, brand management, consumer and market research and strategic partnerships. She also will oversee the CHPA Educational Foundation and serve as a member of the association’s senior management team.

Frank Baldino, the founder, chairman and CEO of Cephalon, has died, the company said.

FRAZER, Pa. — Frank Baldino, the founder, chairman and CEO of Cephalon, has died, the company said.

Cephalon announced that Baldino, 57, had died Thursday evening while on medical leave, calling him a pioneer in the biotechnology industry and an inspirational leader who would be “sorely missed.” Baldino, who received his doctorate in pharmacology from Temple University, founded the company in 1987 after several years at E.I. duPont de Nemours & Co.

Mary Elizabeth Deming Combe, who founded health and beauty care company Combe Inc. in 1949...

GREENWICH, Conn. Mary Elizabeth Deming Combe, who founded health and beauty care company Combe Inc. in 1949 with her husband, passed away at her home on Sept. 20. She was 94.

In 1938, Combe graduated from Ohio State University and married the late Ivan Combe. Eleven years later, they founded Combe Inc. and built it into one of the largest privately owned health and beauty care companies in the country. The team created such well-known brands as Clearasil, Just For Men hair color and Odor-Eaters.
