MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores last week named Tammy DeBoer as SVP food. DeBoer will report to Paul White, EVP and chief merchandising officer.

"Providing customers with a compelling food assortment is key to driving trips and an important initiative for Family Dollar,” White said. “Tammy’s proven track record in the food industry and her strategic leadership will help drive further enhancements to our assortment and help us increase customer loyalty as we work to continue to expand our market share.”

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Reckitt Benckiser on Tuesday announced the appointment of Suzanne LoGalbo to the position of regulatory affairs director, Reckitt Benckiser North America.  

LoGalbo joins RB from Pfizer Consumer Health. While at Pfizer, LoGalbo most recently held the position of global regulatory portfolio lead worldwide regulatory strategy. Prior to Pfizer, Suzanne was the head of global regulatory affairs North America for Novartis Consumer Health. She has also held regulatory leadership roles at Polaris, Solvay, Arganon and Sandoz.  

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Mike Cirilli has joined Rite Aid as senior director of OTC and private label, Rite Aid said.

With 29 years of work experience in retail category management and merchandising, Cirilli most recently was VP merchandising with Duane Reade, where he worked for 16 years, and was a director and VP supply chain for Krasdale Foods. At Rite Aid, he will report to group VP category management Bill Bergin.

A native of New York, Cirilli earned his bachelor degree in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

NEW YORK — The owner of an independent pharmacy in New York has won a national award for his diabetes education and counseling efforts.

Ronald Del Gaudio, a graduate of Long Island University's College of Pharmacy, also known as LIU Pharmacy, and the owner of Kings Pharmacy in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, has won the Health Mart Diabetes Care Excellence Award from the independent pharmacy franchise company, the university said. Kings Pharmacy, a member of Health Mart, includes two pharmacies in Brooklyn and one in Manhattan.

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Monday announced Jim Griffiths has been named as the association’s VP scientific and international affairs, effective Oct. 10.

SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson on Monday named Mark Walchirk president of its U.S. pharmaceutical division, effective immediately. Walchirk, who most recently was chief operating officer of McKesson Specialty Health, has held numerous leadership roles at McKesson over the past 11 years, including COO of McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — H. D. Smith, one of the nation’s largest pharmaceutical wholesalers, on Monday named Timothy Booth to corporate VP and head of its home healthcare division. Booth will report to Christopher Smith, H. D. Smith's president and COO.

SAN FRANCISCO — Randy Heiser recently joined McKesson as director of retail national accounts of Six Sigma, DSN has learned.

Heiser comes to McKesson from Giant Eagle, where he was VP pharmacy and oversaw the day-to-day operation of more than 209 locations. Heiser started his retail pharmacy career in 1980 with Rite Aid, where he worked his way up to director of professional placement and director of pharmacy and therapeutic
management.

WASHINGTON — The National Products Association promoted two senior advocacy staff members "as the association expands its regulatory and government affairs efforts," NPA stated Monday. Cara Welch now is SVP scientific and regulatory affairs, and Elizabeth Hurst is director government relations. In addition, Meg Mader was promoted to director of marketing.

DALLAS — Three weeks after being named the first civilian director/CEO in the nearly 117-year history of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, Tom Shull officially took the reins today of the $10-billion military retailer. Shull replaced the Exchange’s last uniformed Commander, Brig. Gen. Fran Hendricks.
