PURCHASE, N.Y. — Larry Thompson has returned to PepsiCo to serve as the company's EVP government affairs, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective July 30.

Thompson — who previously served as PepsiCo's SVP government affairs, general counsel and corporate secretary from 2004 to 2011 — will be responsible for PepsiCo's worldwide legal function and government affairs and public policy organizations. He also will oversee the company's global compliance function and the company's philanthropic arm, the PepsiCo Foundation.

PepsiCo announced that Diet Mountain Dew, Brisk and Starbucks ready-to-drink beverages each have garnered more than $1 billion in annual retail sales, expanding the company's portfolio of billion-dollar brands to 22. PepsiCo said it has doubled the size of its billion-dollar brand portfolio since 2000, adding five new billion-dollar brands in the past five years.

PURCHASE, N.Y. — PepsiCo has expanded its board of directors with a new member.

Bunge chairman and CEO Alberto Weisser will join Pepsi's board, effective Sept. 14. Bunge is a global food, commodity and agribusiness company.

Weisser's election brings the total number of directors to 13 and the total number of independent outside directors to 12. PepsiCo chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi serves as the company's inside director.

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — PepsiCo's Canada operations has introduced its first soft drink bottle made from 100% recycled PET plastic.

The company said that its 7UP soft drink will be available in the EcoGreen bottle in Canada. With the introduction of the 7UP EcoGreen bottle in Canada, PepsiCo Beverages Canada will reduce the amount of virgin plastic used by approximately 6 million lbs. over the course of one year.
