BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Matrixx Initiatives recently named Lori Norian VP marketing for the Zicam Cold Remedy brand. 

Norian previously worked at Unilever and has worked on popular products including Hellman’s, Ragu, Bertolli and Altoids. Norian said she believes her experience translates well to the cold remedy brand, which is targeted primarily to women.

“Knowing how to tap into consumers’ needs and develop resonant messaging and communications strategies is the key to driving further growth for Zicam,” Norian said.

Walgreens recently fine-tuned its merchandising leadership structure, announcing a few key changes in the lineup.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens recently fine-tuned its merchandising leadership structure, most notably elevating Jim Jensen to VP daily living implementation and space planning, where he will be looking at maximizing merchandising initiatives against space optimization in the stores. Moe Alkemade will assume the role of general merchandise manager handling seasonal, sundries and consumables; and Beth Stiller has been named group VP retail brands and global sourcing. 

All appointments are effective Nov. 4.

SILVER SPRING, Md. – One of the Food and Drug Administration's top regulators is not retiring, contrary to rumors reported in news media Thursday.

In a memo sent out to staff, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research director Janet Woodcock wrote that she would not retire, but was becoming "more deeply involved" in such activities as proposed reorganizations of the Office of Pharmaceutical Quality and the Office of Generic Drugs.

This winter Ligety will be spreading the message of using Vicks DayQuil & NyQuil to relieve cold symptoms and "power through anything winter throws at them." The new partnership with Ligety is part of a long-standing Vicks and P&G sponsorship of the Olympics.

One of Health Mart’s newest owners is Yang Xiong, who opened Minneapolis’ Northside Community Health Mart Pharmacy in July. A 2011 graduate of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, Xiong spent his first years working for two national chains. That experience led him to want to operate his own pharmacy and have a more direct impact on his patients.

BRUSSELS — The CEO of Delhaize Group's European division has resigned, effective Oct. 31, the Belgian supermarket operator said.

Delhaize said Stefan Descheemaeker had decided to resign as CEO of Delhaize Europe, though the company did not give a reason. Delhaize said that as a result of Descheemaeker's departure, Delhaize Group EVP and Delhaize Group Southeast Europe and Asia CEO Kostas Macheras would report directly to group CEO Pierre-Olivier Beckers, as would Delhaize Belgium CEO Dirk Van den Berghe, effective Nov. 1.

Times reporter Katie Thomas opened the analysis Saturday by recalling an episode of the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black," in which the prison saves money by switching inmates to generic drugs, much to their dismay. ATLANTA — The Coca-Cola Co. is releasing a limited-edition version of Diet Coke in cans inspired by pop singer Taylor Swift, the company said.

Coca-Cola said the Diet Coke Taylor Swift can six-pack would be on beverage aisles nationwide this month and next month. Each 12-oz. can has a special, slim design and is adorned in handwritten style with a Swift quotation: "If you're lucky enough to be different, don't ever change." The collector's edition can is part of Coca-Cola's multi-year partnership with Swift.
