Giant Food Stores will stage the grand opening of a new in-store health clinic at one of its stores Tuesday, the Ahold USA banner said Friday.

LEVITTOWN, Pa. — Giant Food Stores will stage the grand opening of a new in-store health clinic at one of its stores Tuesday, the Ahold USA banner said Friday.

Giant, based in Carlisle, Pa., is partnering with Aria Health FastCare on the clinic, providing the space while Aria provides the staff. The clinic will be the fourth. Lancaster, Pa., General Hospital is also partnering with Giant to operate another clinic.

In a segment of CNBC's "Mad Money" program, host Jim Cramer proclaimed "Rite Aid is back" when a caller asked for the former hedge fund manager's opinion about the Camp Hill, Pa.-based retail pharmacy chain. "Rite Aid is good. … It is an okay situation. The group is strong," Cramer said.

Cramer's proclamation only confirmed what Drug Store News has been saying for a while now, ever since it became clear that Rite Aid had hit pay dirt with its Wellness+ loyalty card program, growing sales and reversing several years of annual and quarterly losses. In April 2013, the company posted its first profitable fiscal year since 2007.

Target is opening a new store in King of Prussia, Pa., the mass-merchandise chain said Monday.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target is opening a new store in King of Prussia, Pa., the mass-merchandise chain said Monday.

The 165,000-sq. ft. store will include fresh produce, fresh meat and packaged backed goods, as well as a pharmacy, optical center and in-store Starbucks, employing 200 to 250 people. The store will donate to local chapters of the United Way, Feeding America and grant programs.

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — The board of directors of AmerisourceBergen has authorized a new $750 million share repurchase program.

AmerisourceBergen expects to use the new program to repurchase its outstanding shares of common stock, subject to market conditions. The company has $446.1 million remaining on its prior November 2012 authorization, bringing the total amount authorized for repurchases to $1.2 billion. To date in fiscal year 2013, which ends Sept. 30, the company has spent $401.1 million to repurchase its outstanding shares of common stock.

Without the expected marketing hype this fourth quarter, annualized sales of Children's Tylenol were up 31.8% to $51.4 million, securely resuming its claim as the best-selling children's fever reducer for the 52 weeks ended June 16 across total U.S. multi-outlets, according to IRI.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan's sales ticked up slightly in second quarter 2013, compared with the same period last year, the company said.

The Pittsburgh-based generic drug maker reported sales of $1.7 billion, a 1% increase over second quarter 2012's $1.69 billion. For the six-month period that ended June 30, sales were $3.33 billion, a 2% increase over $3.27 billion during the same period last year.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA has appointed Nick Bertram as its SVP store strategy and execution, the supermarket operator said Thursday.

Bertram previoulsy worked for Jewel-Osco, where he oversaw operations across Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. He was also SVP of Supervalu and worked in executive positions at Walmart in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. His new position at Ahold USA will be based out of the company's Carlisle, Pa., headquarters.

Rite Aid had another month of positive sales growth in July, the retail pharmacy chain said.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid had another month of positive sales growth in July, the retail pharmacy chain said Thursday.

Rite Aid said same-store sales for the four-week period that ended last Saturday increased by 1.3% compared with the same period last year. The increase included a 0.7% increase in front-end same-store sales and a 1.6% increase in pharmacy same-store sales. Same-store scripts increased by 0.4%. Total sales for the month were $1.898 billion, a 0.9% increase over $1.881 billion last year.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid's product selection for the back-to-school shopping season will include many new products aimed at college students, the retail pharmacy chain said.

In preparation for what the National Retail Federation calls the second-busiest shopping season of the year after the winter holidays, Rite Aid is including new computer accessories, wireless Internet routers, sheet and blanket sets, shower curtains and door mirrors. According to the NRF, college living essentials are likely to see an increase in spending this year.
