The integration exclusively was made by mobile and social commerce provider Branding Brand without any involvement from third-party service providers, and makes GNC one of the first to implement this feature on its mobile site.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan has launched a generic version of an opioid painkiller, the company said Wednesday.

Mylan announced the launch of oxycodone hydrochloride tablets in the 5-mg, 15-mg and 30-mg strengths. Mylan is launching the drug under a development and supply agreement with Coastal Pharmaceuticals.

The drug is a generic version of Xanodyne’s Roxicodone, a treatment for moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone hydrochloride tablets had sales of about $325 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.

PITTSBURGH — GNC on Monday announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Shadow Beverages and Snacks, the producer and distributor of Ironclad Energy + Hydration and No Fear Energy drinks.

The deal is expected to push the GNC brand name beyond its retail base and partnership with Rite Aid in the drug channel. Under the terms of the licensing agreement, Shadow Beverages and Snacks will produce a line of ready-to-drink products that will be marketed under the GNC brand.

PITTSBURGH — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug for epilepsy made by Mylan.

Mylan said Monday that the FDA had approved its divalproex sodium capsules in the 125-mg strength. The drug is a generic version of Abbott’s Depakote Sprinkle capsules and is used to treat certain types of epileptic seizures.

Divalproex sodium capsules had sales of about $89 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.

Mylan announced the launch of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride, a once-daily muscle relaxant, in the 15-mg and 30-mg strengths. The drug is a generic version of Cephalon’s Amrix, which had sales of about $125 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.

Sales at generic drug maker Mylan increased by 12% during first quarter 2011, compared with first quarter 2010, the company said Tuesday.

PITTSBURGH — Sales at generic drug maker Mylan increased by 12% during first quarter 2011, compared with first quarter 2010, the company said Tuesday.

Sales for the three months ended March 31 were $1.45 billion, compared with $1.29 billion during the same period a year ago. Profits, meanwhile, were $104.2 million, compared with $61.1 million in first quarter 2010.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan has launched a generic treatment for breast cancer, the drug maker said Monday.

Mylan announced the launch of letrozole tablets in the 2.5-mg strength, an adjuvant treatment for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early-stage breast cancer.

The drug is the first generic version of Novartis’ Femara, which had sales of about $682 million in 2010, according to IMS Health.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan subsidiary Bioniche Pharma has launched an injectable treatment for a rare metabolic disorder, Mylan said Tuesday.

Mylan announced the launch of octreotide acetate injection in prefilled syringes, a generic version of Novartis’ Sandostatin, used to treat the disorder acromegaly and suppress or inhibit severe diarrhea related to certain tumors. Acromegaly results from excess growth hormone produced in the pituitary gland, causing fatigue and weakness, body odor and carpal tunnel syndrome.

PITTSBURGH — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug made by Mylan that reduces pressure in the eye, Mylan said Monday.

Mylan announced the approval of latanoprost ophthalmic solution in the 0.005% strength. The drug is a generic version of Xalatan, made by Pharmacia and Upjohn, now part of Pfizer.

Various versions of the drug had sales of around $711 million in 2010, according to IMS Health.

Mylan announced Thursday that Matrix Labs won Food and Drug Administration approval for zidovudine tablets in the 100-mg strength. The drug is a generic version of ViiV Healthcare’s Retrovir, an antiretroviral sold as a water-dispersible tablet.
