Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Pfizer announced that the Food and Drug Administration approved a supplemental new drug application for Eliquis (apixaban). The drug is a preventive treatment for deep vein thrombosis, which can lead to pulmonary embolism for patients who have had hip or knee replacement surgery.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Take Care Clinics, which is owned by Walgreens, has introduced a new concussion education component as part of its annual camp, back-to-school and sports physicals, the clinic operator announced on Thursday.

Concussion rates in youth sports have doubled over the past decade, driving heightened concern and greater awareness among parents, athletes and administrators nationwide, the company stated. This is what prompted the clinic operator to help address the ongoing need for prevention and information.

The Jean Coutu Group recently announced that it is acquiring a 50% stake in Le Groupe M├ędicus, which specializes in orthotic and prosthetic devices.

LONGUEUIL, Quebec — The Jean Coutu Group recently announced that it is acquiring a 50% stake in Le Groupe Médicus, which specializes in orthotic and prosthetic devices.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1957 by Jean-Claude Bleau, Médicus is a private-sector employer of orthotist and prosthetist graduates in Quebec and specializes in orthotic and prosthetic devices and rehabilitation products by completing the multidisciplinary treatment plan.
