ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Canadian drug maker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International is buying U.S.-based Bausch & Lomb Holdings for $8.7 billion, the companies said Monday.

Bausch & Lomb makes prescription and over-the-counter eye health products, as well as contact lenses and solutions and eye-surgery equipment.

CHICAGO — Bausch + Lomb recently introduced a new consumer-preferred cap design across its Renu multi-purpose contact lens solution brand. 

The design and overseal snap provides for an added ease of use, the company stated.  

The Renu brand in July celebrated 25 years on the shelf. First introduced in 1987, the brand helped revolutionize the contact lens solution category as a daily, single-bottle contact lens care regimen.

EL MONTE, Calif. — Optics Lab has kicked off a new consumer campaign in support of its OcuFresh Eye Wash product, the company announced Tuesday.

The product, which helps flush out such eye irritants as pollen, dust and smoke, will be featured across the "Mommy Blog" circuit and in such print publications as Prevention, Redbook and Allergies Today.

The company also is circulating a 15-second spot featured on YouTube here.
