DETROIT — A weight-loss supplement developed by a pair of Wayne State University professors has gained distribution through Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, ArtJen Complexus announced Monday.

The new diet aid is Mirafit, an all-natural, stimulant-free weight-loss supplement derived from corn fiber, which does not contain allergens, the company added.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Glass container manufacturer Owens-Illinois announced its acquisition of a single-furnace glass container plant in France.

O-I, which announced its intent to acquire the VDL Co. plant in Vergeze, France, last November, said that purchasing the plant was the result of the company's strategic relationship with Nestlé Waters — the plant is located near Nestlé Waters' Perrier bottling facility, and has a longstanding supply relationship with Nestlé Waters.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An e-cigarette brand announced that its disposable e-cigarettes now are available at H-E-B and Meijer stores.

The company said that this marks Blu Cigs' transition from online sales to retail by being sold in all of H-E-B's 329 stores across Texas and Mexico, as well as Meijer's 196 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Each disposable e-cigarette equals about 20 to 30 traditional cigarettes, the company said.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Almost 15 years after its debut, the original singing bird clock is being relaunched by Mark Feldstein & Associates, the company announced.

The clock, which features images and 12 songs — one at the top of each hour — from 12 songbirds in North America, is available for a limited time to celebrate its upcoming 15th anniversary in 2012. MFA discontinued the original singing bird clock in 2006 after coming out with another version licensed by the National Audubon Society a few years earlier, the company said.

CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble announced that it has filed a lawsuit against a private-label manufacturer and distributor of mouthwash for allegedly violating the former's intellectual property.

P&G claimed in its suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, that Vi-Jon's mouthwash product carries a bottle and label shape design that is too similar to P&G's Scope Outlast mouthwash.

As previously reported by Drug Store News in February, the company announced that the price boost was driven by sustained increases in green coffee costs. Coffee products sold under the Folgers, Dunkin' Donuts, Millstone and Folgers Gourmet Selections brand names were impacted by an average of 11%.

J.M. Smucker said it has completed its acquisition of the coffee brands and business operations of Rowland Coffee Roasters, a privately owned, Miami-based company.

ORRVILLE, Ohio — J.M. Smucker said it has completed its acquisition of the coffee brands and business operations of Rowland Coffee Roasters, a privately owned, Miami-based company.

The company completed the $360 million transaction with cash on hand and borrowings under its existing credit facility. The transaction is expected to contribute approximately 5 cents per diluted common share to fiscal 2012 earnings, excluding one-time costs of the transaction, J.M. Smucker said.

LIVERMORE, Calif. — An independent wholesale drug cooperative will promote Activant Solutions’ point-of-sale software system to its members, Activant said.

The Rochester Drug Cooperative, which services more than 950 retail pharmacies, long-term care pharmacies and healthcare stores in the Northeast and Ohio, will recommend the Activant Eagle system its members. Activant Eagle allows independent pharmacies to manage all parts of their operation, including point-of-sale, inventory management, financials, purchasing, payroll and marketing.

Healthcare services company Cardinal Health announced that its board of directors has approved an increase in the company's quarterly dividend to 21.5 cents per share, or 86 cents per share on an annualized basis.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Healthcare services company Cardinal Health announced that its board of directors has approved an increase in the company's quarterly dividend to 21.5 cents per share, or 86 cents per share on an annualized basis.

The declared dividend marks a 10% increase above what the company has paid out since July 2010, and also marks the 107th consecutive regular quarterly dividend for Cardinal Health.

The regular quarterly dividend is payable on July 15 to shareholders of record on July 1.
