The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Wednesday announced the addition of seven new companies to its membership roster, including the Boots Co., which joined CRN as an international member.

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Wednesday announced the addition of seven new companies to its membership roster, including the Boots Co., which joined CRN as an international member. 

The other additions included voting members Arbonne International, Bergstrom Nutrition, HORN Nutraceuticals and SmartyPants, as well as associate members Jones Day and MCS Associates.

NEW YORK — The National Advertising Division on Tuesday referred advertising claims made by Coorga Nutraceuticals Corp. for its Grey Defense dietary supplements to the Federal Trade Commission.

NAD is an investigative unit of the advertising industry’s system of self-regulation. It is administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus.

The National Advertising Division last week recommended that Interhealth Nutraceuticals discontinue certain claims for the company’s Zychrome dietary supplements, products that are promoted for the management of insulin levels.

NEW YORK — The National Advertising Division last week recommended that Interhealth Nutraceuticals discontinue certain claims for the company’s Zychrome dietary supplements, products that are promoted for the management of insulin levels.

Print and internet claims made by Interhealth for its Zychrome chromium compound, also known as chromium dinicocysteinate, were challenged by Nutrition 21, the manufacturer of a competing product, Chromax, a chromium picolinate product. Interhealth had been making comparison claims against the supplement ingredient in Chromax.

Evolva Nutrition recently acquired the rights to the resveratrol business formerly owned by Fluxome Science A/S in Denmark. NutraGenesis is a provider of proprietary, branded nutraceutical ingredients that are designed for the dietary supplement, food and beverage marketplaces.

ATLANTA — Biotab Nutraceuticals in March will be launching an ExtenZe-branded line of premium personal lubricant, the company announced last week during the ECRM Vitamin, Diet & Sports Nutrition EPPS conference here.

Biotab, headquartered in Monrovia, Calif., has partnered with Trigg Labs and its Wet line of personal lubricants on a co-branding initiative for the two new products. The two lubricants, one water-based the other silicone-based, will be called ExtenZe Powered by Wet and carry a suggested retail of between $15.99 and $19.99.

Some packages bearing lot numbers 0709241 and 0509075 are counterfeit products containing undeclared drug ingredients that can pose a serious risk to health, the company stated.
