DALLAS — Huggies' limited-edition diaper product is returning to store shelves this summer.

Huggies jeans diapers and wipes will be available nationwide from May through July at retail outlets where diapers are sold, parent company Kimberly-Clark announced. What's more, for every purchase of Huggies jeans diapers or wipes, the brand will donate diapers to families in need through its Every Little Bottom program. The goal is to donate 22.5 million diapers in 2011.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Nestle Waters North America has inked a deal to acquire the maker of Sweet Leaf and Tradewinds beverage brands.

Nestle Waters said its acquisition of Austin, Texas-based Sweet Leaf Tea Co. — which was founded in 1998 — is subject to applicable regulatory approval and satisfaction of other customary closing conditions. The deal will expand the company's beverage portfolio of bottled water to include high-quality iced teas, lemonades and juice drinks.

Mars Chocolate recently sweetened up the ice cream aisle with new DoveBar peanut butter swirl ice cream with milk chocolate. The ice cream bar, which now is available in stores, retails for $4.09 per three-pack.

A U.S. Department of Agriculture study published in March in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has found that ragweed season is almost 16 days longer than it was in 1995 due to changes in the first frost line of the fall in North America. The first frost steadily has been creeping northward and later into the year, lead researcher Lewis Ziska wrote. That’s 16 more days of allergy relief sales — especially good news for Chattem as it shepherds its recently switched Allegra antihistamine through its first year.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Mars Chocolate North America has added a new product to the Snickers portfolio. Snickers Peanut Butter Squared adds peanut butter to the classic Snickers combination of peanuts, caramel, nougat and milk chocolate. The candy is the top-testing new bar launch for Mars in the last three years.


Each 1.78-oz. single pack includes two square-shaped bars and carries a suggested retail price of 89 cents. The bars also are available in fun-size bags in two sizes: 11.5 oz. and 21.5 oz.

NEW YORK — Colgate-Palmolive, which posted a dip in North American sales during the fourth quarter, experienced share gains in oral care and has outlined new product launches planned for 2011.

North American sales declined 2% during the fourth quarter as unit volume increased 1.5% with 4% lower pricing and 0.5% positive foreign exchange. Organic sales slipped 2.5%. North America operating profit decreased 8% during the quarter, driven by increased promotional investments and higher material costs, partially offset by cost-savings initiatives.

P&G said its Global Asset Recovery Purchases team assisted the company in reusing or recycling its waste. P&G said these efforts delivered tens of millions of dollars in cost recovery to the company in the past year alone.

Dove is introducing two new sophisticated and delicious flavor combinations: raspberry and dark chocolate swirl, and white and milk chocolate swirl. Dove's chocolate swirl line will be supported with a new marketing campaign, which includes print and TV advertisements, the company said.
