“2013 was an important and successful year for Beiersdorf. The Group has made gains in market share, increased sales and improved its earnings. Beiersdorf is back on a sustainable growth track,” said Stefan F. Heidenreich, CEO of Beiersdorf AG.  

Both sales growth and the EBIT margin excluding special factors exceeded expectations.

WILTON, Conn. — Skin care company Beiersdorf announced on Thursday a consumer awareness and fundraising initiative to support National Mentoring Month.

To mark this special month, the company, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, will anniversary its three-month consumer awareness and fundraising initiative to raise $100,000. Beiersdorf will donate all proceeds raised in connection with Beiersdorf’s nationwide Fundraising Program, which began in January and runs through March 31.

Skin care brand Beiersdorf reported that its consumer business segment achieved “significant, above-market sales growth” during the first nine months of 2013, with both Nivea and Eucerin enjoying a boost in sales.

HAMBURG, Germany — Skin care brand Beiersdorf reported that its consumer business segment achieved “significant, above-market sales growth” during the first nine months of 2013, with both Nivea and Eucerin enjoying a boost in sales.

Adjusted for the impact of foreign exchange differences, the company increased its sales by 7.3%. In nominal terms, sales increased by 2.4%, from €4.566 billion to €4.674 billion. Consolidated profit rose from €358 million to €433 million.

Group sales rose by 6.6% organically, and in nominal terms by 3.3%, from €3.062 billion to €3.163 billion. The operating result (EBIT) excluding special factors reached €434 million, an increase of 11.2%, representing a significantly improved EBIT margin of 13.7% (previous year: 12.7%).

Skin care brand Beiersdorf announced on Thursday that it has “continued last year’s positive trend in the first quarter of 2013.”

HAMBURG, Germany — Skin care brand Beiersdorf announced on Thursday that it has “continued last year’s positive trend in the first quarter of 2013.”

Organic group sales rose by 5.4%, and nominal sales increased by 2.9%, from €1,533 million to €1,577 million. The key driver for this positive performance was the double-digit sales growth recorded in emerging markets, the company stated. Consolidated profit after tax rose to €155 million.

WILTON, Conn. — Beiersdorf has introduced its new Nivea Lip Butter line, which includes shea butter and almond oil, the beauty product company said.

Nivea Lip Butter, which retails for $3.99, is available in four flavors: Raspberry Rose Kiss, Caramel Cream Kiss, Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss and Smooth Kiss. Beiersdorf said the shea butter was designed to increase the skin's suppleness and elasticity, while the almond oil was to help soften and smooth the skin.

The Federal Trade Commission announced on Wednesday that it has reached a settlement with Beiersdorf, the maker of Nivea, regarding advertising claims of its Nivea My Silhouette! skin cream.

WASHINGTON — The Federal Trade Commission announced on Wednesday that it has reached a settlement with Beiersdorf, the maker of Nivea, regarding advertising claims of its Nivea My Silhouette! skin cream.

The FTC administrative complaint charged Beiersdorf with falsely claiming that by regularly applying Nivea My Silhouette! cream to the skin, consumers could slim down. According to the complaint, Beiersdorf marketed the skin cream in nationwide television ads and through sponsored search results on Google. As part of the settlement, Beiersdorf has agreed to pay $900,000.

Nivea's marketing budget for 2011 is around 1 billion Euros (about $1.5 billion), and roughly 70% of that is being invested in the new campaign. Nivea hopes that the investment will strengthen the brand and stabilize its position as the No. 1 skin care brand.
