NEW YORK — Beiersdorf’s Aquaphor skin care brand has selected Olympian softball veteran Jennie Finch as this year’s representative for its title sponsorship of the 2013 Aquaphor New York City Triathlon.

Finch, a gold medal-winning Olympic softball veteran, ESPN commentator, coach and mother of three who uses Aquaphor for both her athletic and family skin care needs, will share her training and race day experiences as she works to complete in the Olympic-distance triathlon this July on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

NEW YORK — Bashas' chairman and CEO Eddie Basha, Jr. has died, according to published reports. He was 75 years old.

According to the Associated Press, Basha's cause of death was not disclosed, but his family had said his health had been failing.

NEW YORK — The Supreme Court heard arguments Monday in a case that could determine the future of generic drugs in America.

The case, Federal Trade Commission v. Actavis, marks the latest attempt by federal authorities to put an end to what they say are deals between branded and generic drug companies that delay release of generic drugs to consumers.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens is opening its latest New York flagship store in the Empire State Building, the retail pharmacy chain said Friday.

The store, scheduled to open Saturday at 10 a.m., will include an enhanced pharmacy designed to encourage greater interaction between pharmacists and patients, a health guide to help customers find health-and-wellness products and healthcare services ranging from immunizations to health tests. An "Ask Your Pharmacist" desk, private consultation rooms and Express Rx kiosks are included as well.

NEW YORK — A group of doctors and public health professors are hoping the Food and Drug Administration will place stronger regulations on energy drinks to protect children and adolescents from what they call the harmful effects of high caffeine consumption.

NEW YORK — Rebates on healthy foods may lead patients to purchase them more frequently, according to a new study by researchers in South Africa.

The study, published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, examined a program offered by Discovery, South Africa's largest health plan. The HealthyFood program provides a cash-back rebate of up to 25% on healthy food purchases in more than 400 designated supermarkets around the country.
