NEW YORK — Details of Walgreens' new loyalty card — Balance Rewards — that's debuting next month were revealed in a New York Times report published Friday.

Leading that effort is Graham Atkinson, who joined Walgreens in 2011 from his position of president United Airlines Mileage Plus.

The card makes its official debut Sept. 16, though Walgreens will be encouraging first-adopters to sign on earlier in September for a chance to win 10 million rewards points, the report noted.

Planters is bringing back its peanut butter business, according to published reports.

NEW YORK — Planters is bringing back its peanut butter business, according to published reports.

The company, which recently gave its Mr. Peanut brand mascot the chance to speak — giving him the voice of Robert Downey, Jr. — will reintroduce creamy and crunch peanut butter varieties, according to a New York Times blog. To mark the return into the peanut butter category, Planters is introducing a mascot for the products who will be called Peanut Butter Doug, the Times said.

NEW YORK — Schick, an Energizer Holdings brand, is launching a men's scented razor, the Xtreme3 Refresh, which will feature scratch-and-sniff packaging, according to a New York Times article.

Schick worked with a fragrance company to create a freshly showered fragrance that has been described as blending notes of spearmint, citrus and rosemary, the article stated. The scent is embedded in the rubber part of the razor's handle.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Thursday issued a statement regarding the growing controversy surrounding Lazy Cakes — a brownie containing melatonin, an ingredient that helps establish more normal sleeping patterns — that has been cited in a New York Times article as having “flagrantly mimic[ked] the soothing effects of hash brownies.”

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Thursday issued a statement regarding the growing controversy surrounding Lazy Cakes — a brownie containing melatonin, an ingredient that helps establish more normal sleeping patterns — that has been cited in a New York Times article as having “flagrantly mimic[ked] the soothing effects of hash brownies.”

Other published reports suggested the Arizona Department of Health issued a mandatory recall of Lazy Cakes following the report of an adverse event.
