NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Johnson & Johnson on Wednesday named Ernesto Quinteros, recently of Belkin International, as its chief design officer. He will join the company May 5 and report to Sandi Peterson, group worldwide chairman. 

The chief design officer for Johnson & Johnson is a newly created role that expands the responsibility of the company’s Global Strategic Design Office beyond its consumer business origins to encompass the breadth of the company’s portfolio, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer and health and wellness.

"We are schedule to restore our reliable supply of products in the OTC marketplace," he said. "You should start seeing more Tylenol Children's advertising on TV. That's a good sign. It means we are confident that the products now are not only back on the shelves but they are back on the shelves in a reliable manner."

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Target is on track to open all the stores it intends to in Canada, the mass merchandise retailer said Monday.

Target aid it would open its remaining 33 stores scheduled for 2013 in November, including the first stores in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland provinces. Thirty-one stores will open on Nov. 13, and the remaining two will open on Nov. 22. The retailer had 124 Canadian store openings planned for the year and said it would announce additional store openings at a later date.

J&J said Monday it would acquire Aragon Pharmaceuticals for $650 million upfront plus up to $350 million in milestone payments, with the expectation that the deal will close in third quarter 2013.

"We mentioned to you that the consent decree that we had designed in conjunction with the FDA was approved and reviewed in October, with very few comments. Gorsky was appointed CEO of Johnson & Johnson in April 2012. Current chairman Bill Weldon will step down on Dec. 28 and plans to retire in the first quarter of 2013, after a brief transitional period.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Ranbaxy Labs got the green light from the Food and Drug Administration Wednesday night to launch its generic version of Pfizer's cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor.

The FDA announced the approval of Ranbaxy's atorvastatin calcium tablets in the 10-mg, 20-mg, 40-mg and 80-mg strengths. New Brunswick, N.J.-based Ohm Labs will manufacture the drug.
